Project 1 Probability and Statistical Data Analysis

Introduction

As university students and as people of the current generation, we have noticed from talking to other people around our age that spending time playing video games or just games in general to pass the time or as a hobby is very common. Due to this realization, we are interested in seeing how much gaming can affect our lives, primarily in aspects of our university life and how it affects education.

As our prediction, we think that there are two possibilities of what our conclusion might look like. We think that because gaming in general has become a large part of modern culture and our everyday lives, gaming might be a non-factor into social and academic studies that people who play video games would study just as well as those who don’t.

The other possibility would be that gaming might contribute to how much a student is developing to their study and social life. Perhaps people who game more would experience a harder time studying than those who don’t play video games or rarely play video games.

Reflection

In this project, of course I did not work alone, I completed this project with 2 other group members. By working in groups I can learn and improve myself in socializing and compromising with others. As I was able to work together as a group, I also gained a lot of new knowledge about things to do when conducting a survey. Starting from planning, data collection, data processing, to drawing conclusions. All of that we went through and will become experiences that will be very useful in the future.

When processing data we are required to be people who want to know a lot of things and think critically. That's because when we get data, we need to know why that data can occur. We need to analyze what other factors that support the event or data that are in accordance with the survey results we get. For this reason, extraordinary thinking is needed, and if we can master this field, we can be people who always think critically and deal with problems swiftly.

Conclusion

Through this project I find out about how to do a survey and how to process data. This knowledge is certainly very important and will be very useful for me since I am a software engineering student. In addition, by doing this survey, I feel that there are many things in our lives that we can find out and learn through research. In accordance with the topics we use in this project, I can find out how gaming affects the social and academic life of UTM students. Thus we can find out new things that can expand our knowledge.
