RESEARCH INFORMATION LITERACY FOR UNDERGRADUATE was an engaging and informative online program held on Monday, 17th April 2023 through online Webex meeting. Its aimed to educate undergraduate students on research strategies, evaluating sources, and citation management. The program are divided to a two sessions. The initial session of the webinar began with a comprehensive introduction to the UTM Library, which encompassed its vision, mission, and goals. Participants were provided with a detailed overview of the library's objectives and the valuable resources and services it offers to support the academic community. Additionally, the session included a staff directory, allowing students to familiarize themselves with the knowledgeable professionals available to assist them in their research and information needs. The next session covered the UTM Library portal, online resources, library services, and thesis requirements, providing participants with valuable information on accessing resources, utilizing services, and understanding thesis guidelines. This program provided a platform for undergraduate students to enhance their graduate attributes, including communication skills, thinking skills, and adaptability.
- Communication skills:
- During the program, participants were introduced to the UTM Library and its various resources and services. Through interactive discussions and presentations, students had the opportunity to engage with library staff and gain valuable insights. By actively participating in these sessions, students developed their communication skills by articulating their queries, sharing their perspectives, and seeking clarification on research strategies, evaluating sources, and citation management.
- Thinking skills:
- The program focused on equipping undergraduate students with essential research strategies and critical thinking skills.
