Inspiring Work Experience

  • Tan Yong Kong shared about his experience for getting his current job, a data science engineer in Singapore.  he said, the
interviews will mostly ask about the projects and the course-works they had done during their university life due to the lack of experience. Most importantly, he encouraged us to have a nicely-tailored resume with all the accomplishments and achievements written to get a higher chance to be employed.
  • Mohammad Zamarul got to be hired as a permanent employee during his internship in the company because of his proactiveness in giving ideas. He proposed to create a support dashboard, which is a system to monitor all tasks at once, for the big data environment in the company
  • Batrisyia is quite similar to Zamarul’s case. She managed to get in the position as social media data analyst in TM One during her internship. She showed her proactive attitude in taking part in the real life project of the company.

News Report

Reflection

From the talk session, there are a lot of new things to learn. Even though the talk is conducted online, alumni shared their experiences and information with students well. To get a stable job in the future, we need to have a strong fundamental knowledge about the field that we are going to work in. It is not only technical skill needed but soft skill is also needed because when we are working we work in a team. The talk session seems very important for us because there are so many new things to learn and reflect. The alumni did a great job sharing the information and explaining the material presented to us.
