Sweet Repeats 2023 (SRE'23) brought together talented bakers and a vibrant thrift festival to create an exciting event for UTM students. The primary goals were to promote a charitable mindset, offer a break from academics, and support local businesses.
The event commenced on December 22nd and 23rd, 2022, with a grand opening that unveiled booths showcasing a wide array of bakery goods, merchandise, and thrift items. Students had the opportunity to explore a diverse selection of vintage, trendy, and creatively reworked items all in one location. Additionally, a charity booth was set up to collect donations of books, clothes, and more, with all proceeds benefiting a chosen charity. To engage the students further, Sweet Repeats 2023 featured a range of exciting activities. A lively karaoke session allowed attendees to showcase their singing talents, while an evening movie screening of "The Call" catered to movie enthusiasts. Eating contests provided entertaining spectacles, and a vintage-themed fashion show displayed unique and stylish outfits. The closing ceremony included a charity talk, a lucky draw, and the distribution of prizes.
The event successfully accomplished its objectives by fostering a charitable mindset among UTM students and encouraging community engagement. SRE SELF REFLECTION
As the Secretary of the Sweet Repeats program, I had the opportunity to grow and develop in various areas, particularly in leadership, teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills. My responsibilities as a secretary involved effectively communicating with superiors, ensuring compliance with university regulations, and supporting the overall organization of the program.
One area where I experienced growth was in my communication skills. Regular email exchanges with my superiors allowed me to refine my ability to convey information in a formal and professional manner. This experience enhanced my written communication skills and underscored the importance of clarity and precision in delivering messages. Compliance with university rules was another area of growth for me. I learned how to research and familiarize myself with relevant policies and guidelines to ensure the program operated within the established framework.
