Mini Report
The Mooncake Festival and Cultural Night event is the main event that PTUTM will organize annually. This is the first major event that PTUTM has conducted since the end of the physical restrictions of the pandemic. The event consists of performances from clubs, an artist performance, cultural exhibition, flea market, food trucks and many more. In this event, I continued my role as one of the committee members under the program department. Before the main event on 19th March 2023, each department will have their own respective job scopes to complete in order for the event to be successful. Throughout the semester break in between the first semester and second semester of 2023, our department will need to handle event components such as arranging performances from other clubs in UTM, prepare a drama performance, recruit emcees and Miss/Mr Etiquettes for the event. I was involved in every job that was assigned to us. Not only that, as the program department is the main department of the event, collaborating closely with other departments is crucial, we created a detailed event timeline, ensuring all departments were aligned and worked towards the common goal of a successful event. Additionally, we actively participated in event promotion and publicity efforts to ensure crowd flow on that day. Our dedication and hard work in each assigned task contributed to the overall success of the Mooncake Festival and Cultural Night, providing a memorable and culturally enriching experience for all attendees.
Self Reflection
Participating in the planning and execution of the Mooncake Festival and Cultural Night event has been an incredible experience for me. Looking back, I feel a sense of personal growth and fulfillment. Being a part of the program department allowed me to develop some valuable skills. I had to be organized and coordinate different aspects of the event, from arranging performances to recruiting talent. It taught me the importance of paying attention to details and working as a team to overcome challenges.
Before the event, I found it quite tiring as there is a lot of tasks under the program department that had to been completed. One of the biggest issues that we face is the lack of manpower during the preparation and the main event. I realized teamwork is a crucial element in organizing an event as it felt so overwhelming when there is a lack of manpower. I learned that capitalizing on each person's strengths and abilities is important. We communicated openly and transparently, ensuring that everyone was aware of the tasks at hand and had the necessary support to complete them. It was through our collective efforts that we were able to accomplish everything that needed to be done.
In conclusion, being involved in the Mooncake Festival and Cultural Night event was a journey of personal growth and unforgettable experiences. I gained skills, made connections, and learned the power of teamwork and cultural appreciation. I will carry these lessons with me as I continue to explore new opportunities and make a positive impact wherever I go.
