Mini Report
Annual Gathering 2.0 is a continuous event of the Annual Gathering 1.0 that took place on 13th November 2022. In this event, I was tasked to take over the role of my department leader as he was unable to attend to this event. My job was the same as in the first Annual Gathering which is to ensure the program was able to run smoothly. This event is to once again invite back the participants of the previous gathering and new participants to be involve in the activities that are prepared in order to give them an impression of what our club's main purpose is. Activities such as station games which contains cultural elements had serve their purpose as participants are more engaging and interacted more with their teammates which are assigned randomly. As people who does not know each other in the first place, the station games had definitely allow them to lower their social barriers and make new friends along the way. Overall, the event was a success as participants were seen to have enjoyed their time throughout the event and giving positive feedback to us.
Self Reflection
In this event, I was suddenly tasked with temporarily taking over my leader's position as my leader was sick at that time and unable to attend the event physically. My leader has assigned me my tasks and told me to conduct the event the same as the previous one. As this is the first time ensuring the event is running smoothly on my own without guidance, I found it to be challenging. I would need to think in the position of my leader and deal with unexpected situations. Taking charge of the event provided me with an opportunity to hone my leadership skills. I had to demonstrate confidence, assertiveness, and effective communication with my team members so the event would face lesser problems. This experience allowed me to grow as a leader and increased my self-confidence in handling responsibilities and solving problems.
