Role: 

  1. Assist the client to prepare a proposal based on the job enquiries include of Technical Data, Equipment Schedule, AutoCAD and VRV Xpress.
  2. Learnt and joined seminar and training organized by the company and department.
  3. Prepare a Point-of-Purchase proposal for marketing purpose.
  4. Enhancing soft skills throughout the internship journey.

Communication Skills

Mini Report:

       On 25 July 2022, I have report myself to Daikin Malaysia Sales & Service Sdn. Bhd. as a practical trainee or an intern. The internship period was took for 12 weeks which were from 25 July 2022 until 14 October 2022. I was placed under VRV & Project Sales Department- Application Engineering. The venue of the practical was at Level 21 of Plaza 33 however there were times I need to go for a site visit, showroom visit and training centre located at Lot 9, Seksyen 13, Petaling Jaya.

       During the internship period, my job scope was mainly related to Mechanical Engineering however there were still some relation with Electrical and Electronics Engineering. I also did learnt some marketing jobs. On the daily, I was assigned to assist the client from the Consulting Sales whom handle a consultants either from the government or the private sector; Project Sales whom in-charge to handle the dealers. There were lot of incoming job inquiries received on the daily. These include of preparing a Technical Data, propose an Equipment Schedule by referring to an area from layout plan, designing piping schematic diagram and rearranging the indoor and outdoor unit of air conditioner by using AutoCAD and generated the schematic diagram into VRV Xpress. This only applicable for VRV system. Meanwhile for Single Split system, there was no need to generate the schematic diagram into VRV Xpress. Next, the controller or control system of the air conditioner also needed by selecting the right model of controller via VRV Xpress. However sometimes, the client would want to have an additional setting from the client. Therefore, Intelligent Touch Manager which is known as iTM will be introduced and proposed to them. This controller was used mainly to control the setting of air conditioner and any other equipment, monitor the status of the air conditioner and other equipments and also do some interlocking. However, there was no software or application that available for this controller exist. Instead, it can be controlled, monitored and interlocked via web-based application where the IP address is needed and only the person-in-charge can login to the web.

       In addition, I also have joined a control training where I was taught the theory of application of controller model KRP4AA and then a hands-on were done once the theory seminar ended. KRP4AA normally used for hotel application and server room. There were certain case of logic was created and hence its circuit were varies based which case the owner would prefer to have. Next, I was assigned to do a proposal for Point of Purchase (POP) material. This proposal was done in conjunction to let all of the internal staff to increase their knowledge on Daikin's product that were installed at Level 22 of Plaza 33. These proposal include of preparing a poster and arcylics design to be located near to the Daikin's product. By doing so, apart from increasing the knowledge, the staff also will be able to understand more and promote to the outsider or potential buyer in the future. I also have joined a team building activity that was held at Sekeping, Serendah for two days and one night. The team building activity was joined by all of the staff from Application Engineering include me who was an intern during that time. A lot of activities and games were done together to create a good team bonding among each other. Apart from that, weekly meeting also was held to report the current job on hand and discuss any issues regarding the project. A sharing session or opinion among all the staff were held during the time as well. Despite not learning the exact same things related to my course in university, there were still some electrical and electronics part was learnt during the internship period which was, Control System. I am very enjoyed to learn a new things and have a great friends with a very nice working environment. I would totally recommend Daikin Malaysia Sales & Service Sdn. Bhd. to everyone who would like to join the company.

 

Self Reflection:

       During the internship period, I have learnt lot of soft skills that is very crucial for every graduates. The most obvious skills that I have gained was communication skills. Communication is very important for my job scope during the internship. This was because, I had trained under Application Engineering team which received and work based on the job inquiries from the Consulting Sales and Project Sales. During assisting the project, there were some confusion on the inquiries and requirement. Therefore, I had to call the person-in-charge or person who gave the inquiries to me. Although there were no confusion, I still need to listen to the brief explanation from the person-in-charge. This was because, by doing so, there will be no misunderstanding happened throughout the project.

       In addition, a leadership and team working skills was gained at the same time. Since there were no misunderstanding among the employees, we could perform a good teamwork and leadership. Whenever I faced any issue during handling a project, I will seek for others help and ask for opinion from the expert. A sharing opinion session was held among all the staff as well to discuss any difficulties. By doing so, the project could settled and handle very well and from there, I found that team work are very important when working others, in a team. Apart from that, since I was assigned to do a proposal for POP material by designed a posters and arcylics, I have helped the staffs as well in designing their part. Most of them do not used this kind of design. Hence, I who have learnt some basic editing skills and have experienced as a Multimedia committee in club and societies, hence I have led them to create and produce a good design which suitable for the topic. 

       Moreover, I also have gained critical thinking skills. During preparing proposals for POP material, I had to be as creative and productive as possible. All of the designs of the posters should aligned and suitable with the contents. Also, before the POP materi's designing stage was started, my team and I whom in charge of this project had to come out with the content of the material first. The content should suits for all internal staffs and have marketing points of view instead of technical. This was because, apart from educating the employees regarding Daikin's product, the staff also will be able to promote and market the product itself. This was because, Daikin believe that everyone as in the staff are their ambassadors too.  

       Last but not least, adaptability skills. Adaptability skills are very crucial especially when working with new person or new organization. At first, it was hard for me to adapt with working life and the assigned task. This was due to I have never done such things and living in a comfort zone. Once I started my internship, I slowly adapt with the situation by communicate with others and making friends. The employees there were really helpful and had each other hence my internship journey went well and I treasure it very much.
