Mini Report
The program was held on 26 March 2020 which was on Friday and the program started on 8.30 am until 12.30pm. The aim of the program was to help the students to have good teamwork, enhance student’s communication skills and creativity based on the challenges such as tricky puzzles and finding the clues. The reason why I participated in the program was because I want to enhance my communication skills with others as I am an introvert person. As the program that required me to socialize with other people, I decided to join the program as I think that this program is very suitable for me in helping me to communicate better. Not only enhancing my communication skills, this program also helped me to sharpen my knowledge in psychology and helped me to release my tension.
The graduate attributes from for the program is communication skills. As the program is a virtual race program, communication is crucial as the participant was assigned by the committee members of the program caused the participant to group with strangers. So, in order to win the race, the group member need to communicate well with each other in order to get the clue from the missions. Next, teamworking skills. The program have a lot of missions that the participant have to work together in order to get the clue. From the missions, I made me realized that teamworking is vital to achieve success. Lastly, the gradates attributes related to this program is adaptability. Before the pandemic Covid-19, the explore race was held face to face. Due to pandemic COVID-19 that is worsen, the race was held through online platform. This is the first time that I joined virtual race program and I adapt well with the situation.
In the program, the participants were required to complete the different challenges given by the person in charges in order to get the hints and find the answer of the race. There were a lots of activities held such as word puzzle, drawing and many else. Other than helping the participant to enhance their communication and teamworking skills, the program also help the participant to increase their knowledge in psychology.
Self Reflection
From this virtual race program, there are a lot of experience that I gained including how to work as a team, how to be a better leader, how to lead a communication and I also learned how to adapt with the situation. Frankly, it was my first time joining the virtual race. Before the pandemic of COVID-19, I always love to join race as it gives me a lot of experience and also it is fun. As it was my first time joining virtual race, I was very nervous and scared at the first time. But, after joining the program, I felt like it was very interesting as the activities were also as fun as the physical race.
The program required me to team up with the person that I did not know from first year and third year of psychology student. As the person that are not really good in communication, I only have a few close friends and my classmates. This program allowed me to learn how to cope with other people even they were strangers. The activities that were held also required me to communicate a lot and adapt with other people through the activities such as work together to complete the mission, discussing what is the answer of the mission and many else. So, this program did help me a lot in enhancing my communication skills which I can apply it in the future.
Moreover, this program made me realize the importance of teamwork. As we know, teamwork is really important in our everyday life especially when we are working later in the future. This program which required all of the participants to work as a team in order to get the clue from the mission was really helped in enhance teamwork. Although I was teamed up with strangers, subconsciously we all have a very great teamwork as we got almost all of the clue from the missions. At the end of the program which they were announcing the winner, I did not expect too much but, unexpectedly, we won the second place in the virtual race. So, it made me realize that I worked as a team and it is important to maintain and strengthen the teamwork as it gives a good outcome for everyone.
Although the program was fun, I had a lot of challenges during the program. One of the challenges was I had a very bad internet connection. Most of the activities required me to open my camera and mic. As I have problem with my internet connection, it was quiet a great challenge for me to participate and contribute to the activities. Next, the other challenge was the members of my team. One of my teammate did not cooperate well in the activities. So, it not only causes inconvenience for me, but also to my other group members to complete the mission given. Despite having the challenges, the program was very fun and gave me a lot of experience.
Thus, through the program, I gained a lot of information and experience especially meeting with the new friends. The information and experience that I gained from the program were not only can be used in the future but also can be shared with others. Overall, I was grateful that I joined the virtual race program as the program helped in enhancing my communication skill, teamwork skill, and adaptability.
