1) Mini Report:

Justification in joining the activities:

Kelab Iqra UTM had organized a workshop named as 'Bengkel Photoshop'. The main objective of this program is to expose participants to modern ideas, as well as to educate the participants on the correct ways and techniques to use Photoshop software. I have used Photoshop since secondary school because editing photos is one of my hobbies. I enjoy creating digital posters because I am a big fan of digital art. I can show my imagination by creating posters or editing pictures. The main reason I joined this workshop was that I want to learn more about Photoshop. I used to only use Photoshop for fun, not understanding what each feature in the software meant.

The Graduate Attributes that are focused on:

  • Thinking Skills
    • This workshop had focused on one of the Graduate Attributes which is thinking skills. There was a poster competition before the workshop ended. I had to think outside the box to make an attractive poster. Surprisingly, I had won first place in the mini-competition.

Content of the activities:

The program started at 9.00 am. After I had arrived at the venue, I registered with my friend for attendance. Then, we were given food as breakfast before the workshop started. The organizer started the workshop after all participants arrived. The first session was the installation of Adobe Photoshop CC. Then, the workshop began with theory and followed by hands-on tutorials. At 3.30 p.m., a poster competition was held to enliven the program. The theme of the competition was "Reading". Non-Muslim participants must find quotes about reading meanwhile Muslim participants must use Islamic quotes. In creating the poster, participants must use the Photoshop skills that they had been taught. Three winners were selected by speakers and instructors based on the characteristics of the posters that met the requested requirements. I was one of the winners and I had won first place in the competition. The workshop ended after the prize-giving ceremony.

2) Self Reflection:

There is a positive impact on the development of my Graduate Attributes when I joined this activity. Before the workshop ended, there is a poster competition. Each participant was needed to create a poster based on the requirement mentioned by the organizer. Therefore, I used my thinking skills and creativity to make an attractive poster. It was quite difficult to find ideas during that moment because the time given to make the poster was not long enough. I applied the brainstorming techniques and I able to come up with thoughts and ideas that were suitable to be used for my poster. I was glad that I managed to remember all things that had been shared by the presenter on how to use Photoshop. Hence, I did not face too many difficulties when making the poster because I was able to apply the techniques that had been taught during the sharing session. There were 17 competitors including me. I felt pressured because I really wanted to win this competition as editing photos is one of my favourite hobbies. I would feel so disappointed if I could not win the competition. Therefore, I had to calm down for a bit before the competition is started. As a result, I able to find ideas and made the poster in a good mood. I was so happy when my name was announced as the winner of first place in the competition. I understand that a calm mind is a key to solve everything because we can think of many ideas to solve any problem faced.
