PSDA Reflection
First of all, I want to say thank you to my lecturer, Dr Sharin, for your endless patience and for being an outstanding educator to us. You have filled my head with knowledge. In this class, you encouraged us to challenge ourselves by doing all of the activities, three assignments and two projects. Actually from this subject, I have learned a lot of new things like a bit of knowledge about R programming and how to do the analysis of the statistics by using hypothesis testing, chi-square test, anova, regression and correlation.
So, if I do not understand any of the topics I will refer back to the slide or the recording video because in this subject, we need to understand deeply on how to differentiate the test according to the data given. Other than that, we need to do two projects. For project 1, we need to make a variety of graphs based on the data that we have collected through a survey. I am using excel to create the graphs whereas for project 2, we need to do the scatter plot graph based on the data given by using R programming. My part is to do the regression graph and the most important thing here is before I used R programming, I think it’s better if I do the calculation manually. I meant one by one to find the linear regression equation first. Then, the coefficient of determination and the last one is to test the inference using t-test. After I do the calculation manually, I try to use R programming and then, the output just appears after I enter the code. No need to do long calculations. But, it’s okay because I have gained more understanding while doing the calculation manually by using excel and I discovered that the R programming is very easy to use.
Furthermore, we have a deeper understanding of the topics that we have learnt as a result of all of the activities and assignments. We use statistics in our daily lives without even realising it. This statistical subject truly helps me to learn how to apply various analytic approaches as well as data collection methods to get the findings that we want. To collect all of the data needed for the analysis, we used the questionnaire method. I genuinely hope that all of the new skills and knowledge I have gained through these two projects will enable me to implement them all in the future.
