PROGRAM EASY DRAWING WITH SURVEYCAD

MINI REPORT

Program Easy Drawing with SurveyCAD organized by Land Surveying Student Association UTM (PEMETA UTM), Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration with the TechSURV SOLUTIONS. In this programme held on May 13, 2023, at the Scale Room of UTM. The activity aimed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of drawing using SurveyCAD software and to provide them with hands-on experience using SurveyCAD to create industry-standard plans while refreshing their basic CAD skills.

The programme was taught by Mr. Afi Zulwaqar bin Rasid, who serves as both Sales and Trainer for SurveyCAD at TechSURV SOLUTIONS and as a land surveyor in the industry. A total of 37 students from Years 1 to 3 of the Geomatics Engineering Course attended the “Easy Drawing with SurveyCAD” programme, which was offered in two sessions. I was faced with a myriad of responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities for growth.

My role extended beyond just ensuring delicious meals for the participants. I was tasked with overseeing all aspects related to dining arrangements during the programme, which included meal planning, catering coordination, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience for all attendees. While my responsibilities may have seemed more peripheral compared to the main activity, they played a crucial role in contributing to the overall success and effectiveness of the event. But this role involved the important task of ensuring everyone attending the programme was well fed.

However, managing dining arrangements during the programme also presented its fair share of challenges. One of the main challenges was coordinating with catering services to ensure the timely delivery and setup of meals. Additionally, accommodating diverse dietary preferences and restrictions required careful planning and communication to ensure that all participants' needs were met adequately.

Overall, the dining committee played a role in promoting social interaction and networking opportunities, as participants had the chance to connect and converse over shared meals, thereby enhancing the sense of community and belonging within the event. As a dining committee member, I am proud of my part in making the "Easy Drawing with SurveyCAD" programme a success since I know that I was a major factor in improving attendees' overall enjoyment and experience.

SELF REFLECTION

Reflecting on my role as a member of the dining committee for the "Easy Drawing with SurveyCAD" program organized by the Land Surveying Student Association UTM (PEMETA UTM) on May 13, 2023, I am struck by the myriad of lessons learned, challenges overcome, and the sense of fulfillment that accompanies contributing to the success of such a significant event.

In hindsight, my participation in the "Easy Drawing with SurveyCAD" program as a member of the dining committee was not just about managing meals, it was about contributing to the overall success and impact of the event. It taught me the value of every role within a team, regardless of how seemingly small or peripheral it may appear. More importantly, it reinforced the notion that every contribution, no matter how modest, plays a vital part in achieving collective goals and fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

As I reflect on my experience, I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a meaningful endeavor. It has deepened my appreciation for the intricacies of event management, enhanced my interpersonal and organizational skills, and instilled in me a sense of pride and satisfaction in contributing to the success of a significant program. Moving forward, I am excited to apply the lessons learned and continue to grow both personally and professionally through similar experiences.
