TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION SYSTEM & FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

By: Mr Nazri Edham, Head of Product Design, TM Commercial

Industrial Revolution is divided into 4 phases; 1.0 IR (1784, 2.0 IR (1870), 3.0 IR (1969) & 4.0 IR (Today). Kicking off the first ever phase of IR, 1.0 IR was focusing on people gaining energy sources from mechanization, water power, steam power and combustion. Then, 2.0 IR changes the practices into mass production and assembly line, which was the era when electricity came into the picture. 3.0 IR initiated technologies like computer, electronic, production and automation like television.

Both are focusing on cyber physical systems. While IR4.0 (2011) was striving for manufacturing, 4.0IR (2015) changed the game into development of technologies for all aspects of human life.

In my opinion, although these technologies still face many challenges, I believe that with the efforts of relevant personnel, these difficulties will be solved. As a member of Generation Z, after completing my studies, I will join related industries and be fully prepared for the advent of new technologies.

AMAZON WEB SERVICES

By: Dr Qusay Al-Maatouk, Lecturer of Asia Pacific University (APU)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is one of the top Cloud Computing Services Providers. It is a secure cloud platform that offers a broad set of global cloud-based product. AWS provides you with on demand access to compute, storage, network, database and other IT resources and management tools. Moreover, AWS offers flexibility and its services work together like building blocks.

From our point of view, it is very important for us, to learn or educate ourselves about cloud computing. This is because, with the
transformation of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0), cloud computing is playing a very vital part in it. Therefore, as a generation that will be working in this environment, we need to familiarize ourselves with cloud computing. Not only in terms of knowing the definition of cloud computing, but also in terms of understanding about how cloud computing was functioning, what type of services that we can have from it, and the pro and cons of cloud computing.

EMERGING TECHNOLOGY ON NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE

By: Ts. Goh Bih Der, Systems Engineer, CommScope Malaysia

In this talk, some of network infrastructures involved in networking are explained. The first one includes the end-users (as a student or staff) with their devices like smartphone, laptop and tablet. They are connected through Wireless Protocol (Wireless Edge) to access the Internet through Wi-Fi. While from big universities, hotels or companies perspective, it includes IoT devices like Smart Pipes, Light Bulb, Door Lock and Sensors. They may connect through their own IoT Protocol or Wireless Protocol.

As a conclusion, as the future generation, we need to increase our awareness towards the technologies and applications that is being created or used in this nowadays. This is because, we need to prepare ourselves so that later in the future, we will be able to use all of these technologies and application.

IR 4.0: A MALAYSIA PERSPECTIVE

By: Ms. Sarah Khadijah Taylor, Strategic & Project Manager of Digital Forensics Department, Cyber Security Malaysia

In this era, where the world is full of technologies, executing IR 4.0 is a need because only with IR 4.0, Malaysia, would be able to compete with other countries. This is because other than digitalizing the manufacturing sectors, IR 4.0 would also help to increase the efficiency and the value of Malaysia's manufacturing sectors.

From this talk, I realized that Industrial Revolution 4.0 has brought variety of changes in many aspects of human life. Advanced materials and additive manufacturing have increased the quality of our local products. 3D printing is one of the products produces by this technology that generate functional 3D objects. It can support the next generation of objects in industries including automotive, manufacturing, healthcare and consumer good. These technologies have helped our country to innovate and invest in new technologies to remain competitive.

CURRENT TRENDS OF AUGMENTED REALITY IN INDUSTRY

By: Dr. Ruzimi Mohamed, Founder of OZEL SDN BHD

In this talk, Dr. Ruzimi first introduced what is IR4.0 and 9 digital industrial technology. Then he talked about the future of AR, and showed the expected revenue of the 2025 industry, and the highest is video games. Not only that, Dr. Ruzimi introduces some use cases of AR, such as education, furniture, furniture or other large products, clothing and fashion. In these applications, the main role of AR is to let customers know if the goods meet their own requirements without need to go to the physical store. In addition, we have learned some types of AR, such as market based, projection based and superimposition based, and Dr. Ruzimi also introduces some common positions in AR, such as content developer / strategist, community / project manager and animator / sound artist.

From this talk, I realized that Augmented Reality (AR) has brought a variety of changes in many aspects of human life. AR rapidly is transforming and creating breakthroughs in the healthcare industry which is one of the most important aspects in ensuring a great life for human being.

5G & WIFI 6

By: Mr Nicholas Yong, Executive Industry Solution Manager for Asia Pacific Region, Huawei

As a conclusion, as the future generation, we need to increase our awareness towards the technologies and applications that is being created or used in this nowadays. This is because, we need to prepare ourselves so that later in the future, we will be able to use all of these technologies and application.

In this talk, we learned how to distinguish between 5G and WiFi6. Simply put, the biggest difference between them is that 5G tends to be outdoors while WiFi6 tends to be indoors. For example, 5G will support use cases that require longer ranges like
remote surgery using AR technology, while home and office environments will rely on Wi-Fi 6. From this we can see that these
two new technologies will not eliminate each other, but complement each other. In my opinion, these two technologies will undoubtedly bring many conveniences to our entire society and daily life, such as remote shopping and higher-quality online
courses. But at the same time, they will also bring us many unexpected disadvantages, such as extreme cyber-crimes. However, I believe that with the development of new technologies and the supervision of relevant new laws, these disadvantages can be minimized, enabling people to trust these new technologies more.
