VIRTUAL PSYQUIZ

I was the grand treasurer for the program Virtual PsyQuiz which is an online quiz competition between first, second, and third-year students of psychology to increase their knowledge about psychology and strengthen their bond as a family. The first graduate attributes that I focused on is communication skills. Since I had to become an informal emcee during the quiz competition, I had to rely on my quick wits to communicate with the audience since there was no script for it. These had strengthened my communication skills to convey my message clearly and understand the mood of the audience and knowing the right thing to say. Next, it also challenges my thinking skills to come up with sentences and jokes to entertain the audience. Lastly,  this program also helped me to develop my teamworking skills since all of my tasks can only be done if I work as a team. As the grand treasurer, I had to transfer the money to the winning participant after the program has ended. The first place received RM 60, the second place won RM 40, the third place is awarded RM20, while the fourth and fifth place each got RM 15.

This program has given me a lot of positive impact in different aspects and most importantly is that I get to strengthen my graduate attributes. It helped me enhance my thinking skills since I had to react quickly during my time as an informal emcee during the quiz competition. This helped me to think better and react better using my quick wits by observing the mood of my audience to come up with something to say. Moreover, it also helped to develop better communication skills, besides communicating effectively with my team members, I also had to convey message clearly with the participants and keep them entertain by maintaning two-way communication and observing the mood of participants. The last graduate attributes that I managed to develop throughout the program is teamworking skills. I can work effectively as a team and it made me understand my team members better. One of the advantage that I had while conducting this program is that I am confident, even though I had some slip ups or mispronounciation during emceeing, I managed to cover it up and remain composed and confident throughout the whole event. One of the challeges that I had throughout this whole program is that I had no experience in being an informal emcee. I overcomed it by seek advice from those who has experience in being an informal emcee.
