Mini Report

I was selected as a committee member of special duties for the program known as ESCAPE. The objective of the program is to spread awareness about the rising issues of sexual abuse among children. This was my first time being in the special duties unit hence I am not very familiar with this position. Moreover, I did not really know anyone from the special duties unit so I had to adapt quickly if I want the task to run smoothly such as buying gifts for the hampers and preparing certificate for the whole committee members which we need to do as a team. One of the main activity of this program is the explorace. Each checkpoint has its own objective and lessons. Since one of the facilitators had a minor injury, I had to replace her on the big day. Being a facilitator really challenges my leadership and teamworking skills since I had to lead my team and guide them on each checkpoint. I emphasized my teamworking skills since I also had to work as a team with them in order to lead them to success. Other than that, I had the chance to develop my communication skills when I had to give them hints and guidance to my team throughout the explorace.

Self-Reflection

The program really had an impact on me in various ways. Not only did I gain a lot of new information and awareness regarding the increasing cases of sexual abuse among children, but I also had a chance to develop my graduate attributes. One of the challenges that I had is that I had a lot to catch up on as a facilitator since I was added at the last minute. It challenges my adaptability skills since I had to familiarize myself with all of the new information fast. Next, it also helped me to develop my leadership and teamworking skills better. Since I learned how to guide and lead my team throughout the program and work as a team in order for the task to run smoothly whether it is with my explorace team or special duties unit. Lastly, I also managed to develop better communication skills in which makes me easier to understand others better and convey my message in a clearer and appropriate way. One of my self strength that contributes to the activities is that I am an easygoing person. It really helped me when I am working as a team throughout the whole program.
