1) MINI REPORT
Justification in joining the activities:
Jawatankuasa Kolej Mahasiswa Kolej Tun Dr Ismail (JKM KTDI) had organized an event named “SEGA’21” as an annual event for the college. This program was been directed by Muhammad Daniel Hamdan, JKM KTDI and has been held from 21/3/2021 until 3/4/2021. The objectives and goals of this program are to expose students who are staying in KTDI with e-sports such as PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends and DOTA 2. Apart from these, some of the activities which was been conducted online are virtual run and virtual sit-up. I have joined this event as a crew in technical unit. The main reason for joining this event was because I wanted to develop and improved the soft skills inside me especially during the pandemic. This event was conducted very smooth since the organizer itself has a very good planning upon this event. Not only that, this event allows the student to take a break from their academic that surely is overloaded especially during this online class. It helps student to release their stress as well as improving their skills in some affordable sports. By joining as a crew, in which working as technical unit, I have to learn to use the OBS Studio for the live stream since this event is conducted online. However, OBS Studio is a free software and the organizer itself has already mastered to use the software. Thus, he taught
The Graduate Attributes that are focused on:
Leadership and Teamworking Skills
This event contributed to one of the Graduate Attributes which is leadership and teamworking skills. As a crew, me and my team have to work together to ensure that all of the live stream is working smoothly. As someone who never work in a technical unit, it was challenging at the first time. However, I had overcome the stress since there are lots of peer who helped me. Besides learning how to use the new software, I also learnt to communicate with each of everyone in the team better since all of them came from various courses and ages.
Content of the activities:
In this event, I was in-charged to handle the live stream for PUBG Mobile. Before the day of the live stream, my leader, Muhammad Faiz Irfan, has taught me on how to use the OBS Studio besides sharing all the useful Youtube links for us to understand better. At first, he told us to download the OBS Stream from the web and try on our own to ourselves familiar with the software. Then, after few days, we had a live session on discord altogether with the leader and the team members. Then, he told us to install Bluestacks on our laptop so that we can view the mobile games on our laptop. Apart from streaming the games on Facebook, some of us also need to stream for the Opening and Closing Ceremony. On 21/3/2021, the Opening Ceremony was being held on Facebook KTDI, and was being handled by one of our team which is Izzah Fatini. For all I remembered, it was her first time and she handled it very smooth and calm. Once the event is started, the grouping stage for all of the e-games were conducted virtually as well as the virtual run and virtual sit up. For virtual run and virtual sit up, participants were given a range of days to complete their target for the competition. Next, the final stage for all of the three e-games had a live streaming which were handled by me, Faiz Irfan and Khairul Izzat for PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends and DOTA 2 respectively. The live stream was been held at Official Facebook KTDI. Lastly, on 3/4/2021, a closing ceremony on the same platform was handled by Khairul Izzat which can be said to be happened smooth and clear without having such problems. Right after the closing ceremony, all of the crews and high committee held a post mortem to revise all of the problems occur during the event.
2) Self Reflection:
By joining this activity, it really gives a positive inside me on the development of my soft skills especially for my Graduate Attributes. At the first place, I was afraid to join this event since it is an online event and I have no experience in handling any event especially online. Basically, this was my first event in which I took part as the organizer in online environment. On top of that, out of all of the events that I have joined in my life before, this was my first time be given the task to work as a technical unit. By having this experience, I believe myself more that I can actually do things out of my comfort zone and most importantly I learnt that it is okay to make mistake. This is because, during the event, when I was doing the live stream on Facebook, I mistakenly used a song which contains a copyright so which is illegal resulting in the live stream to be blocked on Facebook. Thankfully, my leader and all of the other leaders professionally told me what to do and solve the problem on the spot. Despite having a good leader and team at that time, it gave me a great lesson to always do better and never blame ourselves too much and learn from the mistake we have done. Apart from that, I learnt that it always a need to communicate in a good way with everyone whereas I realized that it is never wrong to ask. In order to learn to use the OBS Studio, I had to ask a lot of questions to my leader and team members and they are very helpful in helping me working with the software. Gladly, I made it until the event finished and able to complete my task successfully even though mistakes were made.
