CULTURE FESTIVAL 2021

1) Mini Report

Culfest’21 is an event conducted by JKM KTDI which has been held from 28/5/2021 until 29/5/2021. This event consists of some which mainly focus on the worldwide cultural activities. The objective of this event is to strengthen the cultural activities that has been demolished day by day especially in this new generation. Next, this event also aims to polish soft skills in students also the outsiders to generate more creative ideas and gives opportunity for them to shine. This event was been held fully online using Facebook and Google Meet. Some of the activities includes Video Contest, Photo Contest, Language Class and Forum. I joined this event as one of the activity crew in which my task is to handle the Video Contest and the Language Class.

The Graduate Attributes that are focused on:

Leadership and Teamworking Skills

This event had focused on one of the Graduate Attributes which is Leadership and teamworking skills. The organizer of this event really encouraged all of the crews to communicate with one another freely. Not only that, we are also exposed to communicate with many outsiders in order to conduct most of the activities. This really helpful to help me to improve my communication skills with everyone around me.

Content of the activities:

For Video Contest, it is an open contest which is not only for UTM Students but also opened to the outsiders. Participants need to create a video of duration 3-5 minutes and panels will judge the video and give marks. Same goes to Photo Contest which participants need to take a picture and send them to us for the judgement. All of the activities must match the theme which is Cultural theme. Next, the Language Class, which consists of Arabic, Japanese, Korean, German, Tamil and many more. As the person in charge, I was responsible to handle the Arabic Class on 29/5/2021. It was a great experience since I have to do a lot of communications with the panels as well as the participants. Next, on the same date, closing ceremony were held at night. This event has been a good event since the flow is so organized and tidy.

2) Self Reflection

By joining this event, my soft skills especially in terms of communicating with the outsiders can be said to be improved a lot. By handling the language class, I have to contact the panels which is Ms Nor Aqilah which is a lecturer from UTM throughout the event. It was not an easy task since I was packed with my schedule for other events and assignments as well. Not only that, I also have to contact the jury for the Video Contest at the same time. At this point, the most crucial part is because my schedule was so packed at that time. The most valuable experiences I got this time is time management. I learnt that it is so important to manage your schedule perfectly so that it will not clash or interrupt other activities. In addition, I also learnt that cooperation between team member is so important since being a part of activity unit is quite crucial especially with short number of members. Despite everything, I successfully finished my task without interrupting other events in my life. Gladly, this event went so smooth and I am so thankful that I am part of them.
