Throughout 3 months I was undergoing my industrial training at ACTS SMART SOLUTION Sdn Bhd, Kuala Lumpur. Assessment & Control Technical Services (ACTS) Smart Solutions is a company that offers a range of services to extract maximum value from inspection data in terms of significance of reported features, potential feature causes and changes compared to previous inspections.

During the first month, I did a researched studied through reading articles and research papers related to the all type of ocean technology converters (OTEC) and ocean energy that have potential in producing new energy. I was given a project on Integrated Marine Tidal Turbine with Solar System Energy for Power Generation with Coastal Erosion Breakwater. It required me to improvise from the previous past project on Integrated Tidal Marine Turbine for Power Generation with Coastal Erosion Breakwater. From the given project, I learnt something new about other field such as OTEC and the project required my knowledges on my programme course, Electronic System Engineering. This project taught me that  it was unnecessary to create a new technology from the scratch and it was all about was improvising the current technology to made it greater than the previous. Besides, be a discipline person and having a good plan was important to finish it on the time.

Next, for the second month (July 2019), I started planned the concept of integrated tidal marine turbine and solar panel system together with buoy system of the project. During this month, I joined a project team that lead by Dr Noor Irza in Anthropometric Data Collection collaborate with ASEAN NCAP and MIROS. The objective of the project is to produce manikin that match with average Asian body size and height to be used in car crash test. The measurement data divided into two main categories which are for children (6 and 10 years old) and adults (Male and Female). Other Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand and Indonesia also involved together in collecting the people measurement from each country. During the data collection, I learnt that social and communication skills one of the crucial factors were needed to handle people from different ages, races, attitudes and backgrounds. It also taught me a lot of patience and creativity to approach people and attract them. I also attended a short course on Floating Offshore Structure Design and Analysis and it changes my stigma that my current study field was connected to other fields too.

In my last month (August 2019), I was managed to finalize the market availability of each components and the most suitable dimension and specification of the components. A lot of skills that I have learnt among three months includes dealing with the suppliers from local to international, troubleshoot the problem using Proteus and designed the whole system. It taught me to be more selective in selecting the best materials and components.  As an engineer to be, it taught me that we need to be more creative and work smart in solving the problems. Even though I faced  several of challenges , it also taught me that as a human need to responsible for each actions and decisions were made.
