Introduction

Debate program that we proposed was to enhance UTM graduate attributes among students. Basically, the purpose of our program is to make UTM students boost their confidence when communicating with others. Other than that, with debate students also can have the ability to think critically during the debate session. The objective of our program is to generate effective critical thinking with the issues in a given topic. Next, students can meet and interact with students from other faculty in the context of a social and intellectual activity. Other than that, to realize the simultaneous opportunities for leadership and group participation and last to participate effectively in situations where decisions must be made.

Lack of Graduate Success Attribute among UTM Students

  • Thinking Skills
    • students has lack of manners when starting conversations (require to think before talk)
    • Students don’t have the ability to examine the implications and consequences of a belief or action before doing something.
  • Communication Skills
    • There are still a lot of students that are afraid to talk in front of the class of or even in their group discussion. Students need to enhance these skills because it is very useful especially during their work phase.
    • Some students choose not to ask anything about their topic that they do not understand because they are scared to talk. This will lead them to not have any courage or confidence.
  • Leadership Skills
