Noshahrin Zainuddin

On 14th of December, HBS session had been done successfully for my section which is Section 01 and Section 02. My HBS topic is about Symbian. Symbian is an operating system widely used in cell phone. Nokia is one of the user of Symbian OS.

 

From this session, I learned that rivals can be a good thing and a healthy competition. For instance, eventhough Windows did not have any idea on mobile phones, they use their advantages of money and large network to set a new operating system that works for mobile phone. As for Apple, they protect both their hardware and software and they provide a very user friendly OS. BlackBerry (RIMM), promoted the usage of e-mail through mobile phones. Android's OS are useful for developer as their and they provide free SDK for developer who is interested.

The rise of Symbian have opened eyes for other companies to develop their own OS. This situation gave good influence to both developer and user. As they try to develop a greater OS, the user get even more choice to pick. From my opinion, this rivalry is a necessity to develop a high end product.

 

Alhamdulillah, despite some minor problem, this program has been succesfully conducted on 7th December 2011. It was a great program as Datin Fatini, the author of Ainuddin: Pejuang Melayu Degil, gave a charismatic speech. She described how she got the chance to interview Tan Sri Ainuddin eventough Tan Sri is slightly ill. I learned that Tan Sri Ainuddin was UTM's first vice chancellor and he is the one who created UTM's logo. I learned a lot that night and I sure that the audience did too.

On 7th December, there will held an event called the Pengkisahan Ainuddin. It is a book launch event. The book is a biography about Ainuddin : Pejuang Degil Melayu written by Datin Seri Fatini Yaacob.

I was assigned under the commitee of publicity. My unit leader, Abas Abdillah had done a great work on finishing the banners, buttons, and the flyers. Last night, the meeting was held and all the units present their unit's progress and problems. There seems to be no problems from every units and the work ran smoothly.

As for me, I will be photographing during the event and I am prepared to do my job. The meeting turned out well and ended at 11pm.

When I took my first step into UTM a month ago, my first thought that I would lose quite a weight because it is a big campus. I am quite excited to study in UTM because I got the course that I wanted. A week of orientation or Minggu Transformasi Mahasiswa UTM had widened my view about UTM. Actually I can get more than just a scroll of degree. I enjoyed most of the activities held during the orientation. I also learned a lot about the program that I took. Before this I was not really sure about what I am going to learn in this program. My time the whole week was not completely wasted as it was filled with helpful slots and programs. Now, I am doing my first entry for my e-Portfolio. I think the e-Portfolio will ease the student so much as we don’t have to carry our portfolio around with us. Instead, we input all the data and information into an online database which stores all our information, resume, activities, achievements and many more. Having e-Portfolio is a great advantages and it can be used even after I have started working. This is my review about UTM and e-Portfolio
