The purposes of visiting the ADAX office which is located in Kuala Lumpur is to let the students know and learn on the important of technology for data. The implement of technology, real-life problems and site visit is crucial in the world of technology nowadays as technology can be found everywhere in our daily lives. Moreover, students and youngster nowadays are more advanced in the technology itself. To be a holistic person, students need to be exposed in such a real-life problem so that we can adapt ourselves, practice, learn and prepare before we really get into the world of work.
ASEAN Data Analytics eXchange (ADAX) is a platform that is created by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) which is in Putrajaya as an initiative to give the platform to the professionals, government and business organization to adopt the Data Analytics in their daily task as a tool to create a better innovation and decision making to empower their own missions. ADEX’s main goal is to be the portal, hub and centre in data analytics exchange for information, resources, collaboration, content and knowledge sharing in the ASEAN region. ADEX which is created in 2016 have many important missions to help the people to empower their business which is to educate the people that want to learn like the business organization and government agencies to adopt Data Analytics as the important part in their company operation and to be the centre in Big Data Analytics and to rapidly transform the business intelligence in Malaysia and ASEAN region.
5 KEY FOCUS AREAS IN DIGITAL ECONOMY
As one of the organizations under the Malaysian’s government, ADEX are trying to help the economy by sustaining an ecosystem of digital innovation in our country which can keep us at the forefront of technology. So, they have identified 5 key focus areas in digital economy that can help to catalyse digital adoption across industry sectors which is Internet of Things (IOT), Big Data Analytics (BDA), e-commerce and data centre and cloud. To achieve this key focus area, ADEX has identified 8 Premier Digital tech Universities in Malaysia that can deliver the first class theoretical and practical training under the programme of the Undergraduate Immersion Programme or Premier Digital Tech IHL and UTM is one of the eight universities that was identified. The objectives of this programme is to create a sustainable talent pipeline for industry, strengthen awareness and confidence in Digital Tech related career, recognition for future digital talents and benchmark to be emulated by other institutions.
UNIVERSITIES UNDER THE PROGRAMME PREMIER DIGITAL TECH IHL
Others programme recommended by MDEC which is Data Camp for Classroom. This programme is organised by the company named as DataCamp. DataCamp organised this programme to make teaching and learning data science as easy as possible for everyone around the world. In this programme, you will be taught by the lecturer or you can do self-study. They are many topics that you can learn such as R programming, Python programming and Data visualization. You can go to DataCamp’s websites to join this programme and create your account. Then, you must fill in the form and submit it so that DataCamp can send you the link to the approved academic group. This programme is recommended by MDEC because it have many benefits for you such as you can have your own private discussion forum from the experts around the world to learn more about computer science. Moreover, you will get a certificate to prove your talent which can be used to find a suitable job.
REFLECTION
This visit has given many interesting and important inputs regarding the important of data nowadays. One of the impacts of this visit regarding to my study is it encourage me to study more. By seeing how significant data is in the industry, it motivates me to study more on how the data works. In our daily life, everything that we do can be store as a data and companies can use that data that they have collected for their advantages. For instance, a company collect data to find a way to increase their income. Next, this visit showed me on how important is the role computer science student in the next 7 years. Nowadays, the industries are really trying to find workers with IT background because with the introduction of industry 4.0 that revolutionize the world with using computers as a medium to do business. So, the IT sector in the near future will have to step up their game and help create a modern and successful future. Lastly, the visit helps me understand more on big data. Big data is a large data sets that we analyze to revile pattern or trend to help us get the information we need. It is mainly use in big cooperate companies to increase their sales or to know what does the consumers want. Big data is important as it helps us to understand more on the subject and to produce the best solution or way to implement it. So, this visit encourages me to study more, showed me the important of IT sector in the near future and helps me understand more on big data.
