SECI2143 - Probability and Statistical Data Analysis

Project 1

Project 2

Reflection

Probability and statistical data analysis is a subject that teaches students about analyzing data using various forms of statistical techniques. At the beginning of the course, we learned a lot about data types, graphs, and charts as well as the measurement of central tendency like we had learned back in secondary school. After that, we entered chapter 5: Hypothesis Testing which is something unfamiliar and continues with chi-square, correlation, regression, and ANOVA test. Of course, the online class is challenging. For example, I would get sleepy most of the time but taking notes, snacks and water help me a lot.

Throughout this course, we are assigned 2 projects by Dr. Sharin. The first project is data collection and analysis. Here, we are required to collect sample data and do the analysis. My teammates and I decided to find out about the shopping platforms' preferences of Malaysian University Students. We chose this title because we want to see whether students still prefer doing in-store shopping over online shopping and how the decision makes an impact on their lives. The collection of data was made via google form. Thanks to all our friends and students because we were able to get enough respondents in a short time. We completed this project using Microsoft Excel and the project report is as follows.

The second project is an inference statistical analysis project where we had to select a dataset from any reliable sources and analyze it using hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, ANOVA, or chi-square test. After some discussion, all of the group members agreed to finish this project using Asian Countries' population data. I admit that this project is tough, especially the R programming part. However, thanks to guidance from Dr. Sharin, You Tube, Google, and my teammates, I succeeded in my part which is the regression analysis to examine the relationship between the population and world share of a random sample of 51 Asian countries.

To sum up, I am very honored to present a thousand thanks to Dr. Sharin Hazlin, because with her help and guidance, I was able to complete all the assignments and projects for this subject. She never tired of reminding students about all the class assessments. In addition, I admire the way Dr. Sharin organizes the e-learning. It is very neat and easy to read. On this occasion as well, I would like to thank all members of the group for having given so much help and sparked ideas throughout the case study implementation process. Not forgetting also to the people involved in the success of these tasks either directly or indirectly. All kinds of help you all stretch I am very flattered because, without the help and support of all, this task may not be well implemented.
