On 15th November 2022, i have joined an activities that was organized by UTM library. It was my first time joining the program was held by UTM library. This program was conducted online via Webex Meet. The platform for this programme was suitable since it was online and recorded. The objective of this programme was to uncover about the reasearch information literacy for undergraduate students. In my opinion, this program was very beneficial for all of students since it explained on how library can help the students to use library website to finish their assignment, thesis or to find some past year questions to do revision before final exam. For instance, the librarian taught on how to find the article that are related to the topic assignment and the course that students take.
Based on this programme, it can enchance my thinking skills on the way to use library website that can be advantaged for my assignments. Therefore, i do not have to look up in other website where some of them need to paid first. In addition, I can also increase knowledge base about the fundemental of my assignments given by the lecturers so that I can have some information that are related to my studies by the technique that have been taught by the speaker easily. Lasty, from this program i can acknowledge problem analysis skills where i can use the appropriate knowledge to identify, formulate and analyse the problem that will be faced in finishing my task and i can also application it in real life.
Self-reflection
Honestly i never thought that this programme would be so much beneficial for me as a UTM student. I feel very lucky that i was choosen to join this programme. This programme actually was conducted in 3 days which are on 13 november 2022, 14 november 2022 and 15 november but the points that was being delievered are the same so that the students that cannot join the previous day can also join in the next day. I chose to join this programme on 15 november since i did not have class on that time. This programme started with introduced the organization chart of librarians that consists of a lot wonderful people. Then, it continued with the place of libraries in UTM JB and KL. After that, the speaker started to move to main agenda of the programme which is explaination on how to use the account of library.
During this part of sharing, i have learnt to improve the searching skills that can be used to find some article for my group task or assignment. Therefore, it also enhanced my thinking skill because to find some article that related to my assignments, there is keyword that need to be included. There is a part that i need to check whether that topic need to be narrowed or broaded so that the main idea would not be missed. In addition, i also need to know how to search for article whether it is need to include OPAC or not. Problem analysis skills also important when searching the best article. This is because, i need to analyse the article that i found and evaluate based on my kowledge and understanding before deciding to choose certain article. Therefore, by following the tips that have been shared by the speaker, i can easily access to UTM library website and find the best article that followed the criteria of my assignment. It will be more easier and better way than searching in the other website that are not really useful and will take a lot of times. However, this skills cannot be empowered easily within a few days. It need a lot of practice and hardwork so that i can easily detect the main point of the article and find it the way that i want then the best article can be found to help in finish my assignment.
