Report
The reason I followed this event is because of the current pandemic that is happening. With the current situation that is happening, I know that any sport activities or outdoor activities would be very limited. So I took the opportunity to do some last outdoor exercise before MCO starts. I asked my friends that stayed back in the dorm with me to join me on this event as we all could get some more outdoor exercise together. The graduate attributes that I think played a part is adaptability. Quarantine become the new norm of the society and we all have to adapt to it and change our lifestyles to fit into the new norm. In terms of self adaptability, I had to adapt from a indoor person to doing outdoor activities more. The contents of the activity is in the name. It is a fun run that was organized by Kolej Rahman Putra (KRP), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. We all gathered at the starting line at 7.45PM to do warmups before the race to reduce chances of muscle cramps and other incidents. We start the race at 8PM but before that we were given a speech by the organizers and sponsors for the run. The run span 6KM going around the UTM campus. We as in me and my friends complete the run in around 30 to 40 minutes in and were given time to rest before the giveaways starts. We use that time to get some food and drinks to regain back energy. After the giveaways, we went back to our dorms and rested as the next day was a school day.
Self-Reflection
The impact of the activity toward the graduate attributes leave an impression on me. Adapting is a skill that us human have. We need it to survive in the world and try adapt to new environment or else we will be left behind. This is proven by our ancestors, those who are willing to adapt will have higher chance of survival and that is hard wired into us. In my case, its adapting to a new setting of doing sports again. After the semester break, I return back to sitting down all down and not doing much exercises. So this event did help me get out and get more fresh air. Although this is a familiar setting i have done before, but I need to re-adapt to it again. But this time, I have got an advantage as I have done this regularly before and just need to get my body to redo it. Redoing it is not as hard as never done it before. So, I think that is my self-strength in the event.
The challenges I've faced in this event is the actual uphill battle of the course. The course includes a lot of uphill runs which drains a lot of energy from me but I persevered and pushed through it and finished the course in the time limit.
