Mini Report
Recruitment of new students is an annual staple of Persatuan Pesta Tanglung. The purpose of this activity is not only to provide a platform for college students to make friends from different courses in UTM but also to bond the hearts of Chinese people together to be aware of the traditional Chinese festivals that are gradually forgotten. This activity is divided into four stages. Fortunately, I participated in the fourth stage of recruiting new students. During the event, I learned about the activities and achievements that Persatuan Pesta Tanglung had reached over the years. During the part of an activity, the club divided the students into eight groups: the sales group, publicity group, design group, emcee group, and so on. All students are doing different activities to make it easier to understand the responsibilities each group has to shoulder. In the activity, we understand sales concepts, program flow, and other information. In short, I can learn leadership skills, teamwork skills, thinking skills, and communication skills in the whole activity.
Self-reflection
In the activity of Member Recruitment Pesta Tanglung 2019, all students should keep close communication with their group members. It is because each member plays an essential role in the game activity. We need to complete the game through tacit understanding and communication between each other. During the game activity, I was shy to voice my opinion, but the seniors and my friends always encouraged me to speak out and become the team leader. Finally, I successfully became a team leader and stood on the stage to display our artifact. In this case, I can improve my communication skills and leadership skills that belong to the UTM graduate attribute. Besides, I also learned about critical thinking in making the right decisions. As a leader, I need to give my group members some instructions and advice in each activity to complete all the tasks within the specified time. For example, in the sales team, we should consider and choose which marketing tactics can be used to attract our potential customers. Every member plays an essential role in delivering the best possible results in the game. Without the team working in a group, we cannot have a consequence in this game. This proves that the elements of team working is an indispensable part of the group. In this program, I met a challenger which is communicating with a stranger. I feel nervous and shy when talking to someone, but seniors and my friends always encourage and convince me to try out the leader position. Supporting from them has to lead me courageous to overcome all challenges.
