MINI REPORT

This program's goals were to increase awareness of the value of protecting the environment and the earth while also deepening our understanding of animals. We participated in a nighttime jungle trip with the forest ranger on the first day of the programme. There was a lot of fresh information provided on the environment and nature, which we must preserve for a healthy ecosystem. Unexpectedly seeing a black scorpion in the middle of a forest was one of the nicest experiences we had. Throughout the activity, the ranger gave a lot of fascinating facts about the nocturnal insects.

On the second day, we were divided into groups in which every group had the chance to work with different kinds of animals. My group was assigned to the monkey species area and we had gained a great deal of knowledge in taking care of the animals. After the lunch break, we had an "explore race" activity organized by the committee.

SELF-REFLECTION

Through volunteering at Zoo Melaka, I was given the opportunity to learn about animal care and the value of keeping their environment clean. Animals need to be treated carefully since they are sensitive to their surroundings and have feelings of their own. Additionally, it offers the chance to learn more about how zoo administration functions, endangered animals, and conservation methods. Adapting to the new environment and zoo society provided me with invaluable experience in a different field.

Aside from that, volunteering allowed me to connect with the community and, in some ways, improved my social skills and self-confidence. Moreover, the "explore race" activity had me work in a group while making a fast decision to solve the required task in time. I believe this kind of programme should be held again, as it provides a lot of benefits to the ecosystem. Even the smallest task could make a huge difference in one's life.
