MINI REPORT

The objectives of these programmes are to encourage participants to develop a healthy lifestyle in various aspects, including physical and mental. Second, to enhance active participation by all students in order to create a healthier lifestyle, and third, to increase knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of self-care.

This programme consists of two contests and two talk sessions. The first competition is the Walkathon Challenge, which requires participants to walk 40 kilometers to complete the distance within 14 days. The second contest is an infographic poster with the theme of physical and mental health. The first talk session, on the other hand, was held on 21 May 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The talk was about "Pemakanan Sihat Untuk Siswa," presented by Encik Muhammad Syamil, an experienced nutritionist. He shared tons of useful knowledge on healthy eating and a balanced diet.

Dr. Zulfikar led the second talk session, which began at 2 p.m. and lasted until 3.50 p.m. He indeed kept reminding the participants of the importance of mental health and ways to seek help when one is in need. The programme ended with the announcement of winners in two contests that had begun two weeks before the closing ceremony.

EVIDENCE

POSITION / ROLE IN PROGRAMME

In this programme, I had been given a chance to be the Head of the Protocol Department with two of the other members. The tasks were delegated among us, and to be really honest, it was such a great experience to be involved in a programme related to psychology and mental health. One of the tasks was preparing the running order for the talk session programme on mental health, "APA KATA HATI," presented by the Director of the Counseling Center at UTM JB, Dr. Zulfikar B. Ahmad.

Furthermore, I was also responsible for managing the Walkathon Challenge, for which I needed to become familiar with the Strava application and write up the rules and regulations for this programme.

SELF-REFLECTION

This programme had exposed me to such a new and fantastic experience. Beginning with the Walkaton Challenge, as one of the crew members, I had to interact with the other members to share opinions and ideas throughout the preparation weeks. I also had the chance to explore a new application which is “Strava”, a tracking application for walking, running and riding. The receiving and giving ideas session was one of my favorites, as it allowed me to think outside the box in order to give out the best idea that we could. Next, during the talk session, I was in charge of the running order, which required me to ensure that the programme flowed smoothly and ended on time.

Overall, I am delighted to receive such an opportunity to work with such great people from other faculties and challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone to stretch my limits.
