AWS Content Reflection
a . My Journey on AWS Academy
I started by creating a Canvas account, then I signed in to AWS Academy. I started module 1 which is an introduction to Cloud Computing and AWS features and completed it successfully. Then I started module 2 which contains cost management using AWS and module 3 which contains various services and global infrastructure from AWS. That's where I spend most of my time in AWS modules. After that, I paused to focus on my other duties. I continued my AWS Journey by completing modules containing components in cloud architecture, from Security to Databases. In those modules, I spent the most time studying them, because they were very useful in completing my final project. After these modules, I completed the last 2 modules which contained factors in creating cloud architecture and features for auto-scaling and monitoring. Finally, I managed to complete all the modules and claim my AWS badge.
b. A summary of what you have gained from completing the course (get a badge)
In the end, I was able to get the AWS badge and know more about cloud computing after completing all the modules from AWS. I learned about how to design cloud architecture and the components that are needed to build a complete cloud architecture. I also learn more about what AWS can provide for using their services.
c. Your motivation to complete this project?
I need to finish the project since it’s compulsory for this semester, also this project measures my skill about the learning materials at AWS academy.
d. Your opinion whether getting the badge is easy or difficult? Which module is the easiest/most difficult
For me, it depends on each module, some modules are easy, but there are some modules that are difficult. The easiest module for me is Module 1 because I already know about the basics of cloud computing from some of the latest trends for technology. The hardest module for me starts from Module 4 to 8, because it contains the components and factors needed to create cloud architecture that I really need to complete the TIS project.
e. What’s a badge worth?
For me, the badge is worth the knowledge that I received during the AWS Academy.
f. Feedback whether getting the badge improve your knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing
This module drastically improved my knowledge about Cloud Computing. I learned many new things about it thanks to the AWS module.
g. Your opinion whether every company should shift to Cloud Computing?
For me, every company should shift to cloud computing, because it can make it easier for companies to build their system for tasks that demand intensive workload, such as creating databases, doing big data analysis, and so on. Companies can easily scale the cloud whenever they want with pay-as-you-go pricing.
h. Your opinion whether every computer science/UTM student should learn Cloud Computing (get the AWS badge?).
Every computer science/UTM student should learn Cloud Computing because it can provide references and inspiration on what career they’ll choose. Some students may change their minds about their own career plans after going through AWS Academy modules and decide to use cloud computing to build their business.
i. Any advice to your friends who have not get the AWS badge yet?
If I have friends that interested in cloud computing, I’ll recommend them to join the AWS Academy to gain more knowledge and information about cloud computing. If they also have more time to spare, I’ll recommend them to try the labs as well.
j. What is your direction after completing the badge?
Maybe, I can consider advancing to the next course of AWS academy and continue to learn more about cloud computing, including developing the cloud and adapting it for my purposes.
k. Your opinion about getting the AWS badge that is included in SECP1513 subject
I’ve heard of the AWS Academy before entering UTM, but I haven’t got the chance to participate in it. When it was announced that I was required to do AWS Academy, I’m glad that I can participate in it.
