This course is designed to introduce some statistical techniques as tools to analyse the data. In the beginning the students will be exposed with various forms of data. The data represented by the different types of variables are derived from different sources; daily and industrial activities. The analysis begins with the data representation visually. The course will also explore some methods of parameter estimation from different distributions. Further data analysis is conducted by introducing the hypothesis testing. Some models are employed to fit groups of data. At the end of course the students should be able to apply some statistical models in analysing data using available software.
PROJECT 2 REFLECTION
The objective of project 2 is to understand and apply the concept of inferential statistics. We used secondary data for this project with the sample having a total amount of 1000 respondents. We used the "Go to College" dataset for this project to analyze the relationship between various variables and perform various data analysis. This project is also done to let the student learn on how to use R programming language and R Studio. R language is a really powerful language for statistical purposes.
By using R Studio, we can carry out a variety of test statistical tests, including correlation analysis, regression analysis, and chi square test. These tests were really beneficial for statistical purposes, so that we can either accept a null hypothesis or reject it. For all data decisions for the target demographic, data analysis and hypothesis testing offers a solid foundation for the dataset. This aids the researcher's ability to correctly extrapolate sample data to the wider population.
Next, this project taught me about teamwork. As the saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work, we were able to collaborate together to distribute the work properly. We also worked together to make sure the project is a success. Thankfully, every member was really helpful and we are able to finish it successfully.
We appreciate Dr. Aryati's generosity in sharing all of her expertise with us. Our R programming abilities have increased as a result of this project, which will be useful in the future.
The objective of project 1 is to understand and apply the concept of data description. We need to distribute questionnaire to acquire primary data for this project. Primary data is information that the researcher, in this case us, has obtained directly from the source, i.e. the students. How Proficient First-Year Students are with Technology in Learning is the title of our project, and we distributed Google Form questionnaire to First Year UTM Students. After collecting the data, we identify the type of data we collected and did data analysis on every variable and data we collected.
The poll that we distributed aims to examine how Pandemic COVID 19 actually alters pupils' technological skill. For instance, we may observe that every university uses a variety of online tools to impart knowledge to students, including Webex, and elearning, therefore we want to see how the implementation of technology affect student's life.
From this project, I learnt a lot about statistics and data analysis. I learnt how to use various software or tools to help m team with collecting and performing data description. I also discovered how to come up with some engaging queries after running this survey, keeping the respondents from getting bored. I also learnt how to design and set up Google Forms so they seem neat and professional. The most crucial aspect is that by having to perform calculations and create graphs, I am able improve my understanding on data analysis.
Next, this project taught me about teamwork. As the saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work, we were able to collaborate together to achieve a total amount of 60+ respondents from the survey. We also worked together to make sure the project is a success. Thankfully, every member was really helpful and we are able to finish it successfully.
