History

The Media City Development Project was initiated in 2009 with the goal of upgrading Malaysia's broadcasting capabilities. The proposal aimed to transform the existing two analog transmission channels of RTM into a modern infrastructure featuring ten high-definition (HD) channels equipped with state-of-the-art broadcast systems, aligning with global broadcasting standards.

The initial proposal was presented to the Malaysian Government in 2010 and subsequently approved. The design concept for Media City Kuala Lumpur drew inspiration from the Manchester Media City in the United Kingdom, as shown in Figure below, highlighting the project's international influence and ambition to bring Malaysia's broadcasting facilities to the forefront of the industry.

Reflection

During my industrial training at Media City Development Sdn Bhd. from July 24 to October 13, 2023, I acquired valuable technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and facility management processes.

This practical experience complemented my university studies, enabling me to understand engineering beyond textbooks and address technical challenges in real-world settings. I also improved my communication skills, fostering confidence in public interactions, and observed a strong commitment to delivering quality service and maintaining public structures. This training emphasized the importance of collaboration among departments to effectively address issues.

I believe such internships can bridge the gap between academia and industry, contributing to technological advancements and innovation for national development, providing valuable guidance for my future professional endeavors.
