Program Name: RESEARCH INFORMATION LITERACY FOR UNDERGRADUATE

On the 17th of April 2023, an informative session was conducted via Webex meeting, and I was encouraged by my English teacher to participate, recognizing its potential value for my future endeavors. The session primarily focused on introducing the organization and branches of the UTM Library across various UTM institutions. The discussion centered around accessing the library's online resources and making the most of its services.

During the session, we were guided on how to activate our library accounts and log in using our UTMID credentials. The speaker explained the various features available on the library's webpage, including borrowing records, online renewals, book reservations, and checking fines. We were also provided with comprehensive information on the extensive range of online resources accessible through the library, such as e-books, e-journals, and past year exams. This knowledge empowered us to leverage these resources effectively to enhance our learning experiences.

Additionally, the speaker shed light on the wide array of services offered by the UTM Library. These services included interlibrary loans, requests for processing items, and references to other libraries. By tapping into these services, we were encouraged to expand our research horizons and explore diverse sources of information.

Lastly, the session addressed the requirements for thesis writing, covering essential tools like Endnote and Turnitin. The speaker emphasized the significance of proper referencing and provided guidance on using these tools effectively. This information proved to be invaluable for future academic pursuits, equipping us with the necessary skills to produce high-quality research and adhere to academic integrity standards.

Participating in this session proved to be immensely beneficial, as it familiarized me with the UTM Library's resources, services, and requirements. By gaining a deeper understanding of these facets, I am now better equipped to make the most of the library's offerings, expand my knowledge through online resources, and excel in my academic pursuits.

Attending the UTM Library program has proven to be an incredibly valuable experience, and I now understand why my teacher encouraged me to participate. The program provided me with a wealth of knowledge on effectively utilizing the UTM Library's resources. One aspect that particularly stood out was learning how to access past year exams—an invaluable tool that was previously difficult to obtain. This newfound ability is a distinct advantage for me, as it allows me to practice and familiarize myself with previous exam formats and question types.

Furthermore, the program introduced me to Turnitin, a tool I had heard about but hadn't fully understood its purpose until now. With Turnitin's ability to detect plagiarism, I realize its significance, especially as I embark on my final year project. This tool will prove invaluable in ensuring the originality and integrity of my work, enabling me to identify and rectify any inadvertent errors or potential instances of plagiarism. By utilizing Turnitin, I can approach my project with confidence, knowing that my work is free from any ethical concerns.

In addition to the practical knowledge gained, this program has also enhanced my overall thinking skills, scholarship, adaptability, and enterprising abilities. It has broadened my understanding of how to conduct thorough research and utilize available resources effectively. Even though I am not a library student, I consider it an honor to have attended this program, as the information provided extends beyond what is readily accessible on the internet. By tapping into the vast array of materials and resources offered by the UTM Library, I can expand my research and delve deeper into my chosen field of study.

Overall, this program has been a transformative experience, equipping me with essential tools and skills that will undoubtedly benefit me throughout my academic journey. I am grateful for the opportunity to have participated and am excited to apply what I have learned to further excel in my studies and research endeavors.
