Mini Report
On the 22nd of October 2021, Persaka UTM organized an exceptional event known as Newbies Camp 2021, dedicated to all students of the School of Computing. Due to the circumstances of the pandemic, this program took place online via the Webex platform. The primary objective of this event was to provide new students, including myself, with a comprehensive overview of their respective programs, in my case, the SECRH program.
The program aimed to impart valuable knowledge and experiences from all the programs offered within the School of Computing, while also introducing the concept of online learning. Each program was presented through insightful talks, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of the unique aspects and opportunities associated with our chosen fields of study.
Following the program presentations, an engaging session titled "How to Cope with ODL" was conducted by Dr. Nurbiha, a respected faculty member from UTM Academic Leadership. During this session, Dr. Nurbiha provided essential guidance on the rules and regulations pertaining to online learning implementation. She generously shared her expertise by offering valuable tips, tricks, and strategies to help us navigate the challenges of online learning effectively. One of the key topics covered was the distinction between asynchronous and synchronous online exams, providing us with a clear understanding of their respective formats and expectations.
Through this program, I gained invaluable insights into my chosen program and had the opportunity to learn from esteemed faculty members like Dr. Nurbiha. I am grateful for the knowledge and guidance provided during the Newbies Camp 2021, which has equipped me with the necessary tools and information to thrive in the realm of online education.
Self-Reflection
In that particular year, the world was facing an unprecedented pandemic that posed numerous challenges for individuals trying to adapt to new procedures and circumstances. As a new bachelor student, I embarked on a program that provided invaluable insights into the distinct differences among various academic disciplines. Each program had its own unique code and full name, such as SECR for Networks and Security, SECB for Bioinformatics, SECJ for Software Engineering, SECP for Data Engineering, and SECV for Graphics and Multimedia.
During the program, I delved into the concepts of asynchronous and synchronous learning and examinations. These notions proved to be instrumental in navigating the realm of online education. By understanding the procedures associated with each type of learning, I was able to optimize my learning experience and stay on track with my academic commitments. This program truly proved to be a valuable resource, equipping me with the necessary tools to face future challenges head-on.
As I progressed through the program, I became more thoughtful and deliberate about my future prospects. By considering the potential difficulties that may arise and proactively preparing for them, I aimed to establish a solid foundation for my personal and academic growth. This program provided me with the confidence and foresight needed to overcome any obstacles that might come my way.
