SECP1513-04 TEKNOLOGI DAN SISTEM MAKLUMAT (TECHNOLOGY AND INFORMATION SYSTEM)

COURSE REFLECTION

TECHNOLOGY AND INFORMATION SYSTEM SECP1513

First and foremost, I would like to thank Mr. Hairudin Bin Abdul Majid for giving me an opportunity to learn this course with an effective learning method. Mr. Hairudin Abdul Majid had assigned all of our lecturer's homework for course SECP1513-04, which I had diligently completed. Technology and information systems is a course that has given me a lot of fresh information and opened up a whole new world to me. It covers the basics of computer software, hardware, input and output, and so on. I also attend industry seminars on the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and IT project management as part of this course, which have taught me more about the IT sector. It's an enthralling adventure. This course also involves a number of assignments that need us to undertake online research in order to get proper material for our assignment papers. I've liked learning by doing and refining my soft skills while connecting with my peers. I'd also want to express my gratitude to Mr. Hairudin, my professor, for offering us advise and recommendations that enabled us to effectively finish our assignment.

As for the carrier talks that have been carried out by this course, it really helps me to improve my knowledges regarding the skills and also new things such Amazon Web Services, Augmented Reality, and many else. For example, I was really amazed by one of the carrier talks that has been delivered by one of the lecturers at Asia Pacific University. He actually explained about the Amazon Web Services. I learned a lot about cloud computing from the discussion, which is relevant to my project, which is a low-fidelity prototype. I learned how to utilize Amazon Web Service and received an overview of the company's cloud computing services. Cloud computing also refers to the on-demand, pay-as-you-go delivery of IT services through the Internet. You may rent computing power, storage, and databases from a cloud provider like Amazon Web Services on an as-needed basis instead of acquiring, managing, and maintaining physical data centers and servers (AWS). This session taught me about stuff I didn't know before showing me how useful Amazon Web Services is for people who want to build their own servers, applications, projects, and more.

Aside from that, I can say that this course has opened my eyes to the importance of technology in our society, especially because our nation is in the midst of the 4th Industrial Revolution, where technology is used in almost every industry. Throughout this course, I've been able to describe what technology and its components include. Mr. Hairudin has provided me with the opportunity to explore the entire digital universe. I may also increase my knowledge on how to use the many programs available in the digital world. Microsoft Power Bi, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Amazon Web Services are just a few examples. All of these are the application software that I used to finish my assignment which is a low fidelity prototype and online dashboard report.

PROJECT 2 REFLECTION

By Muhammad Nur Solihin Bin Malik Radzuan

  • What have you learned and your motivation to complete this project?

Throughout the process of creating this project, I was able to broaden my understanding of how technology may be used. I was also able to increase the quality of my ideas by learning how to handle new applications. It also helps my problem-solving skills and my ability to think beyond the box. My objective for finishing this project is to show that I can implement something that will benefit society by making people's lives simpler than previously. I also got to improve my communication and social skills by communicating with my team members throughout the process of completing this project which is very good.

  •  What issues and solutions are implemented to make the project a success?

The problem I ran into when working on this project was that I didn't know how to handle new apps because I'd never built a website interface before. I should admit that it took me some time to comprehend the project's flow because I am not used to new things and lack an academic background in the technology industry, which hampered me. My answer to this problem was to watch YouTube videos on how to utilize the tools that would be needed to create our interface. It's challenging at first, but I'd say the tutorials taught me a lot of new stuff also from the AWS modules that are provided by my lecturer.

  • What is your direction after completing this project?

In terms of my future plans after completing this project, I plan to establish a platform that will assist society while also benefiting me. Following the completion of this project, I believe I am capable of constructing a new interface in which I will apply these helpful talents in the future by designing a new interface for Malaysians. Given that I am continuing my studies in network and security, I believe that this project will serve as my first step toward becoming one of Malaysia's professional security analysts, as well as offering an interface for improving security and making our lives safer and more secure.

  •  What is the improvement necessary for you to improve your potential in the industry?

To improve, I must be more creative, innovative, have better communication skills, work as hard as I can, attempt to fit into any situation, even the most difficult, and be able to solve any problem. These upgrades are necessary since such talents will be required in the future to obtain employment.

REFLECTION INDUSTRIAL TALK #3 BY ASIA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY

AMAZON WEB SERVICES

CLOUD COMPUTING

Based on the talk, I learned a lot about cloud computing since it is related to my project which is a low fidelity prototype. I learned how to use Amazon Web Service and the overview of this cloud computing service provider. Also, cloud computing is the on-demand, pay-as-you-go distribution of IT services through the Internet. Instead of purchasing, operating, and maintaining physical data centers and servers, you may rent computing power, storage, and databases from a cloud provider like Amazon Web Services on an as-needed basis (AWS).  This talk exposed me to the things that I don't know and then made me realize how good Amazon web Services are to the users when they want to implement their own servers, programs, projects, and many more. Lastly, I can say that this talk has greatly left a big impact on myself and also on other students at the University of Technology Malaysia.

This career talk had exposed me to the evolution of our country to support the 5th Industrial Revolution and also shared the infrastructure that has been developed by the TM.  These innovations that have been developed by the TM made me realize how the technologies manipulated human minds to keep modernizing as to keep our life easier compared to before. One of the innovations that opened my eyes is the project of 5G, where how the Internet changed from time to time. As a teenager who is always using my smartphone, it is indeed quite new for me to know how exactly the line modernized.

AMAZON WEB SERVICE OVERVIEW

 CLOUD CONCEPTS OVERVIEW

Cloud computing is the on-demand delivery of computing power, database, storage applications, and other IT resources via the internet with pay as you go pricing

Infrastructure as software

Cloud computing enables you to stop thinking of your infrastructure like hardware and instead think of it as software.

In the traditional computing model:

  • Infrastructure as hardware
  • Hardware solutions
    • Require space, staff, physical security, planning, capital expenditure
    • Have a long hardware procurement cycle
    • Require you to provision capacity by guessing max peaks

Cloud computing model:

  • Infrastructure as software
  • Software solutions:
    • Are flexible
    • Can change more quickly, easily, and cost-effectively than hardware solutions
    • Eliminate the undifferentiated heavy-lifting tasks
Cloud service models

Cloud computing deployment models
  1. Cloud
  2. Hybrid
    • Between cloud and existing premises
  3. On-premises (private cloud)
    • Dedicated resource

Similarities between AWS and traditional IT

INTRODUCTION TO AWS

aws-services.jpg

What are web services?

web service is any piece of software that makes itself available over the internet and uses standardized format such as XML or JSON fro the request and the response of API interaction.

What is AWS
  • secure cloud platform offering a broad set of global cloud-based products
  • provides on-demand access to compute, storage, network, database, and other IT resources and management tools
  • offers flexibility
  • You pay only for the individual services you need, as long as you use them
  • AWS services work together like Legos

3 ways to interact with AWS
  • AWS management console
    • Easy-to-use graphical interface
  • Command Line Interface (AWS CLI)
    • Access to services by discrete commands or scripts
  • Software Development Kits (SDKs)
    • Access services directly from your code

AWS CLOUD SECURITY

A shared responsibility paradigm is available in the AWS cloud. AWS is in charge of cloud security for its own infrastructure, while your company is in charge of protecting your data and workloads. To assist you in implementing your organization's security rules, Amazon offers a variety of security services and capabilities, including encryption, key management, and identity and access management (IAM).

Compliance standards and laws are another key part of security, since a miscalculation here may be expensive to your company. Almost every compliance standard in the world has been approved for Amazon's infrastructure. This does not, however, imply that the workloads you install on Amazon will be compliant. You must be aware of your compliance responsibilities and utilize Amazon's tools to enforce the applicable security and privacy measures.

AWS SHARED SECURITY MODEL

Despite the fact that Amazon provides a secure architecture with built-in tools, firewalls and encryption, private connections, and cross-service Transport Layer Security (TLS), AWS only manages the infrastructure layer and, in the case of managed services, the service layer.

User identification and access, operating systems, apps, networks, and third-party integrations are all the responsibility of the client. AWS provides features and tools that help customers meet their security obligations, but it is the customer's duty to configure them.
