1st Year Subjects ( Semester 2 )

SECI2143-02 KEBARANGKALIAN STATISTIK & ANALISIS DATA (PROBABILITY & STATISTICAL DATA ANALYSIS)

This subject is very focused on how we manage data in various scales from very small to huge amount of data. We also learn how to analyse data based on the data behavior and structure.

Reflection on Project 2 PSDA

Referring to my group's previous project, we did a survey on the usage of smartphones. I have received huge interest since then to dive into the technology of smartphones. In this Project 2, I did several statistical analysis on the trend of smartphone's specifications and the relation between two different specifications. From my experience, this is my first time managing a very big sample of data set The data set that i obtained from a website consist of 1000 sample of data which is very big for a beginner like me. I think that taking this big step on managing such a big data could give me enough experience to get comfortable and confident to proceed on doing analysis. I can learn more about what is needed and what is important to take consideration in doing an analysis on a data set. I also consumed a lot of knowledge by doing this project like the actual relation of processing power and a hardware performance. Since I am very interested in smartphones, I have been acknowledged that a smartphone performance is most influenced by its processor's efficiency. This project has taught me that not necessarily that all hardware specifications is influenced by the processing power.

I really hope that by doing this project, it can make my thoughts more matured and leave a good impression for me. As a student that pursues with Data Engineering, it is important for me to build interest on managing big data and learn more to analyze the behavior of data. I also hope that there will be more project that introduces us with different data analysis in the future so we could get used to it.

Reflection on Project 1 PSDA

We have carried out a survey on the usage of smartphones of Malaysia citizens. The aim of this study is to find out the smartphone usage habits in Malaysia and write out the report with those collected information. The results of the survey is summarized within this report, with data figures used to ease understanding the data collected in the questionnaire. The data collected is also used for us to better understand and analyze the routine of smartphone usage of Malaysia citizen. The data is also reliable to all sort of young age and old age because the respondents come from big range of age.

By doing the project, I can apply my understanding during lecture of Probability and Statistical Data Analysis which actually consist of the method and way for us to distinguish between type of data, way to group the data and present it in the form of various graphs. Rather than understanding the topic only by facts and memorizing, this project spontaneously gave us exposure on how to actually handle big data and manage the data. We can build a higher understanding towards the data collection and data analysis. It also have brought us the importance of collecting data and spreading surveys to a sample of people. Without doing so, we couldn't have any other way to understand statistically the trend of our case study. From the results we achieved, we could analyze the routine of smartphone usage by a big group of people and create a better understanding towards the what data actually influences.
