REFLECTIVE REPORT : INDUSTRIAL VISIT IVAT

DISCRIPTION
On 14 November 2018 which is on Wednesday, all students of section 10 went to visit the Institute of High Voltage and High Current. It was an educational laboratory which provides facilities for carrying out experiments, research and consultancy services in high voltage engineering beginning as early as the 1970s. It was established in 1991.
THOUGHT AND FEELINGS
I felt very excited to enter the institute because the institute was the largest institute in the country. I never knew about it until the day we all students of section 10 visit the institute. I am feeling grateful to have this opportunity to visit the institute and this make me become more proud as UTM students.
EVALUATION ANALYSIS
IVAT offered four services which are consultancy, calibration, testing and training services to various industries in the country. Over the years, IVAT have been doing calibration works including on site calibration for more than 50 companies all over Malaysia. IVAT is certified institution to carry out calibration for high voltage equipment where any company can send their equipment and IVAT will test. They also will test and calibrate the equipment according to the specific requirement of the client.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, from this activity I have gain a lot of knowledge such as voltage are not just Ac voltage and Dc voltage only, there is also impulse voltage as example the lightning. I discovered that high voltage was an interesting topic. I hope IVAT can continue their good work by doing more research about high voltage and make other people realize that high voltage and current is a very interesting thing.
ACTION PLAN
After the activity, I feel that I want to know more about all of this thing because sometimes we do not realize that everything is near to us like the high voltage, generator and other. Then I can discover what are their function and how are they works.
