ADJUSTMENT OF HARDWARE FOR THE INTELLIGENCE INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM FOR SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORK-INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT) PLATFORM

 

  • OpenFlow Switch

As the Zodiac FX cannot be used as the OpenFlow Switch, I decided to use raspberry pi as the OpenFlow Switch. One raspberry pi will be installed and configure as the OpenFlow Switch for the system. The raspberry pi will also be installed the Ryu controller and Snort IDS in order to analyze the system. I have installed Snort and also Ryu controller to the raspberry pi. When I have done analyze using Snort, I will install Suricata IDS to the same raspberry pi and continue to analyze the traffic using Suricata.

 

Challenges:

  1. When installing the OpenFlow Switch, some error had occurred and I’m still working on it to fix the error
  2. Mirror porting to the Ryu Controller and OpenFlow Switch

 

  • Iot Host (launch attack to the system)

One raspberry pi will be used to act as an attack to the system. The attack will be generate by using command hping3 and the attack have various of attack that can be used to analyze the effectiveness of the system. I have tried to run the command and it is working and can be used. This raspberry pi will be connected to the Openflow Switch by using ethernet cable.

 

Challenges:

  1. Try to configure wireless access point that will connected to the switch. The IoT host can connect to the system wirelessly and become more efficient to analyze the system
  2. Need to decide the connection either the IoT host will directly connected to the switch by using ethernet cable or wirelessly
  • New hardware topology setup (2 options)
