Summary of Industrial Training
For my industrial training, I got a placement at Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). In 12 weeks of industrial training under the RMN, which is from 19th July 2020 and ended up on 9th October 2020, I have assigned to group Charlie which consists of 5 members. The other 4 members are Muhammad Alif Haikal bin Zunaidi, Ahmad Muhyiddin bin Noor Azmi, Muhamad Zufayri bin Na’im and Muhammad Aizak bin Din. We were working as a team throughout these 12 weeks of industrial training. There are 4 departments that needs we need to go as to fulfil our 12 weeks of industrial training under Navy which are Unit Pengawasaan Senggara Barat (UPSB), Pasukan Projek Littoral Combat Ship (PPLCS), Cawangan Penguatkuasa Kejuruteraan Armada (CPKA), Depot Selenggara Armada Barat (DSAB).
These 12 weeks of industrial training were not just fulfilling the requirement for the Bachelor of Degree, but more to expose students towards a real-life working experience in the industrial field. We were given different tasks during our training with respect to different department that we went. We need to undergo our training under one department for 3 weeks and then change to another department with another team. Other than the task that been given under the department, we were also been given a main task that need to be done throughout the 12 weeks under Royal Malaysian Navy. The task that been given to our group is a research study on the Hull Vane that can be applied to naval ship in the future.
Objective of Industrial Training
The objectives of industrial training are:
- To expose student to the environment and working condition in related to naval architecture and offshore engineering or mechanical fields.
- To gain working experiences in the organization/industry related to naval architecture and offshore engineering or mechanical fields.
- To use the knowledge of the industrial training which was followed at University.
- To train students to interact and communicate effectively at all levels in the workplace.
- To train students to prepare technical reports related to the Industrial Training which conducted.
- To inspire a working spirit or working as a team.
- To appreciate the ethical values of their profession.
Scope of Industrial Training
The scope of training to be passed by students in the company/organization includes various aspect such as:
- To observe the work flow organization/operations/factories/companies.
- To perform operations by making use of machinery and equipment.
- Inspection and quality control of the interest product.
- To work on process control and instrumentation.
- To work on project design approval.
- Maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Learn of how installation of new equipment and testing.
- Management and administration of the engineering business.
