Mini report:
Compfair’24 also know as Computer Fair is an annual event in our Faculty of Computing. This event is held during the weekend for the student to compete each other in carious event as well as attend interesting seminar, workshops and webinar related to current technological innovation. Also it’s a good place for the student to talk with industry professional as multiple company set up booth for the student so that they can talk with them regarding internship opportunity and life in the industry sector. For Compfair’24 we had event for fast typing competition, code debugging, explorace, tiktok challenge where student for Faculty of Computing Participated against each other. We also had webinar on Blue Eyes Technology, Ceramah Agamah, BioInformatics in medicine as well as a Flutter workshop.
Self reflection:
As a member of the activity unit I had to help out in most of the activity for the compfair but my main task was to host the Fast typing contest also known as “Fast Finger Competition”. For this competition I had to create multiple question for the contest and also draw up a rules and regulation decree. For this competition I also had to create a ranking method. At the day of the event almost 40% of the registered participant didn’t attend as the event was happening during depavoli so most of the student went back home. So I had change the rule a bit to cater to the need of the current participants. Also, I had to help as a checkpoint maintainer for the explorace where we had provided task to the contenders. Furthermore, I had to prepare question for the webinars as well. To conclude, this event was quite fun but it had its share of bottlenecks as number of participants was not satisfactory. I had to adapt with the situation and while doing this I was quite nervous but in the end I manage to fulfill all my responsibility as asked. This event also helped me with team working as I got to work with a lot of new students. We had to communicate a lot to coordinate our plans properly. At the end of the I like to thing that this event helped me grow a bit as it was a very new challenging experience for me.

Southern Youth Leadership Conference 13.0
Duration: 4 weeks (1st Aug 2023 - 28th Aug 2023)
Graduate Attribute :
- Leadership
- Communication
- Enterprising Skill
- Team Working skill
- Adaptability
Role :
I was the Organizing Committee member of Finance & Legalities for SYLC 13.0
Mini report:
Southern Youth Leadership Conference is 4 weeks long project which was started in the year 2016, planned by youths to help youths. SYLC is targeting on the unemployment issue in the Johor Bahru area based on Sustainable Development Goals SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth, as set by the United Nations. The project aim to create a local impact towards SDG 8.6 - to substantially reduce the proportion of youths not in employment, education or training. Also, to provide youths with opportunities of personal development prior to employment. And To provide youths with education on personal development skills to build up their confidence prior to being employed. Over 320 participants engaged in employability skills trainings and career guidance spaces as part of SYLC 13.0, with 10 employability skills trainings and 13 partners working together. The project had total 7 volunteers. During this project there was four site visit, six webinar sessions, one business challenge, one podcast and a 3 day long workshop.
Self reflection:
AS the OCFL my job was to keep track of the money and the agreement. I had to prepare and maintain a database for all of the volunteers agreement as well as all the receipt, invoice and Memorandum of Agreement(MoA). Also, I had prepared proposal for few of the key activities inside the project and prepare a budget and risk management plan for all of the activities. Other than that I also had to prepare report for each of the activity. Furthermore, I also had to work in the technical unit and multimedia unit during all the virtual event. And my most challenging task was logistic where I had to plan transportation and keep track of all the travelling expenses and prepare individual bill for everyone related to the project and it was a tough job. During these four week I met a lot of professional individual who gave me a lot of advices and the sessions during career workshops were very useful as the speaker gave a lot of good suggestion during their session. Also, some of the speaker even encourage us to start our own business rather than working a 9-5 job which was very captivating. Also, this project helped me develop my leadership and communication skill as I had to act as the head of technical or multimedia unit where I had to guide the volunteers to fulfill their task. So for this I had work with people from different background, ethnicity and country which was very enjoyable. While working on these projects we had a lot of sudden changes and few bottlenecks but we managed to pull through it and made this project successful. This kind of tested my adaptive skill which I manage to utilize a lot to keep everything on track. Not everything was perfect but I did learn a lot of new sets of skills and I reinvented few new part of myself that I never knew existed. Working in this project was very effective for me.

I was part of the organizing committee for this webinar also I had to assume the role of the EMCE as well for the session.
Mini report :
SEMINAR : GREEN TECHNOLOGY IN CLIMATE ACTION was supposed to be a seminar to spread more knowledge regarding use of innovative and sustainable technologies to address the challenges posed by climate change and reduce the environmental impact of human activities. These technologies aim to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy efficiency, promote renewable energy sources, and foster sustainable development practices. Sadly, this event was moved to a virtual platform as most of the student went back to their homes during semester break. The main focus of the session was how green Microalgae and spirulina can change the agriculture and mass animal production. The speaker of the session was Assoc. Prof Dr. Nor Azimah. She shared about her research on microalgae and how they are trying to completely remove the usage of chemical fertilizer and animal feed with microalgae which produce better result and it is more eco friendly as it produces oxygen and the production for this doesn’t require any emission of any kind of greenhouse gass whereas production of normal fertilizer and animal feed produces a huge amount of green house gases. The main goal of this event was to let the common people know that everyone has a part to play to protect our environment also how the current people working to preserve the natural beauty of our precious earth.
Self reflection :
As a committee member my role was to find a speaker related to the topic and convince them to take a session. During this period, I struggled a lot as I had to contact a lot of professors and industry professionals to join this event. To be completely honest there was a lot of rejection. I secured a learning partner from SUNWAY university but at the last minute he had some emergency hence I had to start the search all over again until I found our wonderful speaker Dr. Nur Azima. After that I had help with the promotion of the event as well as prepare the poster. And as for being the EMCE this was my first time being an EMCE for a event this big. I was quite nervous but at the end I was quite glad that I was chosen to be the EMCE as it kind of helped me get out of my comfort zone and improve my public speaking skill. Also the whole session was kind of inspiring as it made me want to follow a career in researching as I saw how this can have a big impact in our society as well. And It also opened my eyes that as long as I have the will and a good enough idea I can go in pursuit of that which kind of brings out a bit of entrepreneurship touch as I felt that I can also start my own business in IT sector.

My AWS Badge
AWS Certificate
Journey on getting the AWS badge
I got this by completing AWS academy cloud foundations course.
I did not even heard of AWS before entering this course. So in the beginning I was clueless. But after I completed the all the module I learned a lot about how cloud services works.
Their method teaching was simple and straight forward. I had to watch all the video lecture in a module and give a quiz at the end of the module. So taking notes of the key point was really helpful for me.
As I tried to explore the contents on all the module I learned more and more about cloud computing and why using cloud services is convenient for companies. Also I learned the useage of various AWS cloud Facilities.
Completing the module was hard as I was swamped with Assignments and projects. So whenever I found time I tried to watch a few videos at a time. On the week end I tried to finish 1 or 2 modules completely.
It’s best to take notes while watching the lectures. So, that you have it memorize after all the modules end and you will save time revising on the module just by taking a look on your note.
It took almost a month to finish all 10 modules as I said I had to tackle to much assignments.
The badge look like pin or a badge to be honest. I was relieved when I got the badge.

The Probability and Statistical Data Analysis course was one of the most exciting course this semester. In this course we had to do two projects. In project-1 we worked with data type, box plot, bar chart , histogram and more. Most of these I was already a little bit familiar with. This project was exciting as we needed to gather our own data via questionnaire but Project-2 was a lot different.
In project-2 we worked with hypothesis testing, correlation, regression and chi square test of independence. I was not familiar with these topics at all so I was a bit nervous. But, with the help of our wonderful course lecturer Dr. Sharin all these concepts became clear for me so I started working on the project. At first I needed to find a dataset with which me and my team. It took a lot of time to find a dataset with which we can work with. In the end I picked a dataset related to "In Hospital Mortality Rate" of the patient in the ICU. The next step was to perform the tests with this data set but it had more than 1100 data so I had to process it and take it down to about 400. We worked with Age, gender, Diabetes, Systolic blood pressure, Diastolic blood pressure and Respiratory rate. We used R Script to perform the hypothesis 1 sample test, Regression, Correlation and chi square test of independency. We found out that the mean age of the patient in the ICU was above 70 years old, the relationship between the heart rate and systolic blood pressure was a weak negative relationship and we also found that In general men don’t have better chances of getting affected by diabetes than females.
To conclude this project was exciting, fun and very useful for us as we learned to use the topics learned at this course in real life. In the future I can use these analysis techniques to prove my statement or hypothesis in real life scenarios. Also it definitely helped me gain a new skill which was R scripts language. It was really enjoyable to work with this programming language. Hopefully I will get work on a project like this again in the future .
A.summary of what you have gained from completing the course (get a badge)
Throughout this AWS course I have a lot of things about cloud services and how they work. Specially about aws cloud service as they gave us tutorial about many of their services like AWS Lambda, Amazon EC2.AWS EBS and more.
- Your motivation to complete this project?
My main motivation throughout this AWS course was to learn as much as can about cloud services. Cause it will come in handy sooner or later.
- Your opinion whether getting the badge is easy or difficult? Which modul is the easiest/most difficult?
Getting the badge was not that hard. It took a long time to complete but it was worth it. For me the easiest module was from module 1-3 cause they didn’t have any lab and these 3 module was just introduction to cloud services, AWS cost & bill management and about their global infrastructure.
- What’s a badge worth?
Since they gave us a badge for completing this course of course it has its value. It shows that we have enough knowledge to work with a cloud services.
- Feedback whether getting the badge improve your knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing
Of course getting the badge improved my knowledge about cloud computing. Before I only knew about the definition of how a cloud services work but while getting this badge I got to see how actually the cloud computing works and why it is more convenient for companies.
- Your opinion whether every company should shift to Cloud Computing?
I think it depends on the company’s business and its size. But I would suggest them to move to cloud computing as it reduces a lot of the cost. So, they can use the saved money on other resourses.
- Your opinion whether every computer science/UTM student should learn Cloud Computing (get the AWS badge?).
I think every computer science student should learn about cloud computing. As they are the future entrepreneur so when they open their own company they can use cloud services easily. Also knowledge is power so learning about cloud computing will help them sooner or later.
- Any advice to your friends who have not get the AWS badge yet?
I would advise them to complete this course and get the badge. You don’t have to do it all at once. You can just learn 1 module per week if you are struggling with your studies. Also better to do it in semester break then you won’t have worry about attending class or completing assignments.
- What is your direction after completing the badge?
After completing the badge I am more interested about cloud computing. So I would like to do some research and gain more knowledge about it. Also when I build a company or a business of my own I will surely use cloude services as it has its perks.
- Your opinion about getting the AWS badge that is included in SECP1513 subject?
SECP-1513 had too much assignment to be honest and to add a completely another course is too much load for the students because they have other courses to worry about. But overall this AWS course was usefull. I would just say that if they reduced the No of assignments than including the aws badge with the course is all right.
