SECP1513 Course Reflection

What is my goal/dream concerning your course/program?

As a first-year student, my goal is to get excellent results right away. I'd also like to participate in academic or extracurricular activities that will help me enhance my soft skills, hard skills, communication skills, and other aspects of my personality. When I first enrolled in the Technology and Information Systems topic, my objective was to study how technology and information systems function in our environment. It's vital to me since I'm studying network and security, and technology and information are two of the most crucial things I need to know. To attain my objective, I must ensure that I absorb all of the useful material in this course so that it will be of great use to me when I begin working in the cybersecurity business.

What is the action/improvement/plan necessary for me to improve your potential in the industry?

As a consequence, I'm learning how to adjust to a new environment and way of life at university, which is very different from high school. With so many events and responsibilities, I'm going to have to rethink my study methods. In order to graduate with honours, I'm employing this technique. As a student, we must possess both academic and practical knowledge in order to be successful. Of course, because I plan to work in the cybersecurity industry when I graduate, I'll need to improve my industry potential as well. Attending bootcamps, workshops and webinars as a student at the school of computers, I realised that I needed to improve in a number of areas, most notably my abilities. Hard and soft talents, as well as communication, are all major weaknesses of mine. Because of this, I want to be an active student in the future, participating in many extracurricular activities. This is going to help me hone both my soft and my hard skills at the same time. In this way, I may better prepare myself before entering the industry.

Your opinion on whether this subject contributes to your knowledge on a specific area.

Technology and information systems is one of my favourite subjects this semester. After participating in various industry meetings, I gained a new perspective on the technologies we use every day without even realising it. This class has provided me with a wealth of knowledge, and the homework for each industry lecture have given me a deeper grasp of the subject matter. Since we were obliged to complete an assignment based on the discussion theme, all students were able to engage via an online platform and keep a better level of concentration during the conversation. In addition, I learned a great deal in each session about technology and how it works in general. As a student, this topic is absolutely essential to my education.

Acknowledgement of your lecturer

I would want to offer my heartfelt appreciation to Dr Hairudin bin Abdul Majid, my Technology and Information Systems lecturer, for mentoring me during this semester. This epidemic affected our way of life, notably in terms of how we continue to perform our work in the absence of a classes, the capacity to have face-to-face meetings, and more. I'd also want to express my gratitude to him for his efforts to ensure that I had the best possible learning experience, despite the fact that we never met in our lecture hall. Additionally, I'd want to convey my thanks to Dr Hairudin for passing his knowledge to me. He provided several examples for each idea he taught so that I could have a better understanding by seeing how things work behind the scenes. He also went through the chores and assignments in detail to ensure we completed them all and stayed on schedule. I'm hoping that I'll have a lecturer as good as him for each topic next semester. May Allah bless him with success and honour in his life.

My AWS Journey

How do you get the badge?

As soon as my TIS teacher set up our free AWS practise account, I started watching videos on the AWS site. When I watch the video for the first module, I feel like I'm learning something that I didn't know before. Before I saw these videos, I didn't know much about cloud computing. After watching them, I learned a lot. I also have to do a lab where I will learn how to use an AWS account and how to use any AWS function. It was a great way to learn about how other people use AWS accounts and how AWS manages all of the accounts. To make things even worse, I also write down things about AWS and try to learn about it in a different way than by watching the videos. We will be graded later on when we have watched all of the videos and done all of the labs for each module. When I was done with all 10 of the modules in 20 hours, I was able to pass the test.

What does the badge look like?

AWS Reflection

Throughout the training, I gained a lot of valuable insights and learned a lot of intriguing things. Building a server, for example, may be incredibly inexpensive and simple if we make use of the Amazon Web Services cloud computing platform. Furthermore, it honed my time management skills to an exceptional level. I used to do it occasionally. I'm feeling quite uninspired to finish the courses, but my classmates helped me get back on track by sending me updates as soon as they finished each lesson. Seeing my friends who have completed all of the modules serves as an additional source of motivation for me to complete all of the tasks as soon as feasible. As a result, I was motivated to finish it as soon as possible to avoid being late. After that, obtaining the badge is straightforward, but it may be tough. As a result, module 1 is the simplest and most straightforward because it merely comprises an introduction to Amazon Web Services; yet, module 8 is the most challenging of all because it involves code.

For me, the badge is worth. The only thing I knew before I started my AWS training session was that achieving the badge would earn me 10 percent of my grade, which was precisely what I thought it was worth to me. This badge, I am confident, will be of great value to me in the future, and it has also opened my eyes to a wider grasp of technology after finishing all lessons. Due to the fact that not all students will be able to complete this course and get the badge, the badge now has a significant monetary worth. Furthermore, they are completely oblivious that such a thing exists. At the very least, I have a basic understanding of how technology works and how to make use of it. I am quite grateful that I was able to obtain my badge, and I want to utilise it as a springboard to other achievements.

How Cloud Computing works and how people used to store their data has changed since I got the badge. I learned a lot about large cloud computing companies and how people have changed their data storage method to cloud computing which is cheaper and easier to manage. Because I did practical exercises in some modules, I was also able to learn more about cloud computing.

In my opinion, every company should move to the Cloud Computing because it is the best way to strengthen and grow your business. This is because a Cloud Computing strategy is the best way to do this. Switching to Cloud Computing will also give the organisation a lot of benefits and advantages, like speed and agility. It can cut the time it takes to make these resources available to your developers from weeks to just minutes, which will help them work faster and more quickly. It can also save the company money by not having to run and maintain a data centre. This lets you focus on your own customers.

From my point of view, every student at UTM, particularly those studying computer science, should learn about cloud computing and be awarded an AWS badge to demonstrate that they have understood the subject and acquired the necessary expertise. This information will be beneficial to them in the future, particularly throughout the job search process. This also increases their career prospects because they possess a skill that is in high demand by businesses around. It is my belief that even if the students are not pursuing a degree in computer science, they will benefit from this knowledge in the future.

As a colleagues, I would urge all of my colleagues, particularly those attending school of computing to obtain an AWS certificate. In our Technology and Information Systems (TIS) course, we were given the task of obtaining this AWS badge as part of one of our obligations. Despite the fact that this is a requirement for our project, I would encourage students who are not from our school to obtain an AWS badge since it will be beneficial in the future.

I already have an AWS certificate and am interested in learning more about it. This badge just signifies that we have finished all of the exercises and have obtained some beginner knowledge. As a result, I'd like to learn everything I can about AWS. Later on, I'd like to study more about cloud computing services, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), and gain their certification, which would open up a lot of doors for me when I first started out in the industry.

My impression of the AWS badge is that it provides a great opportunity to learn about the technology we use, how it works, how it is regulated, how it operates, and the services offered, according to my assessment of the AWS badge. Many of us have no idea what we use regularly. For example, I use Google Drive without realising it is a form of cloud computing. I only know I can save files and papers here till I delete them. In the Technology and Information Systems class, we learned about how technology works. Including AWS in the lesson plan guarantees that the course's finish has a significant impact on the students.
