My Reflections

1. What I know about cabling infrastructure?

I learned a lot of things during the meeting. Firstly, I know what type of cable that we have. Then, I know how to handle the equipments to setup the cable. Moreover, I know what type of topology that we have on the networks.

2. Did the module help my understanding?

Yes. I do know a lot of new things. The module teach me the details of the cabling infrastructure. The things that I was curious before have been explain in the module that give me more understanding about certain things.

3. Did the practical helped my understanding?

Of course. The project really teach me many things the real world. As the representative of SMK SETA project, I learned how to manage each unit, what task do the unit need to do, which unit that I need to coordinate for the task, the flow of the works we need to do, teamwork skills, how to interact to the higher-up, time management and so much more. The experience that I got is really valuable for the future.

4. What I need to do for improvements?

There are many things that I want to improve after all the meeting. The first thing is that I need to improve my time management in completing certain task. Time is always be my first enemy. Then, I hope that we can have a better teamwork and understant each other better. This is because the task can be completed faster if we have a good teamwork. Next, I need to improve my soft skills as it is the vital skill you need to develop for your career. Finally, I hope that I learn more about cabling infrastructure because it really interesting course to learn. In conclusion, these are the vital things that need to improve so that I can become better person and the project run more smoothly.

1. What did I do during the site visit?

For out site visit, we go to SMK SETA. We want to improve the network system of the teacher's room and the classroom of the school. Firstly, we find out what is the problem that the school have on the network system. After that, we focus on what are the things that we can add to improve the network system. After we list out all the problems, we take measurement of the things we want to improve such as how long the cable that we need.

2. What I've learned from the site visit? (List out 5 things)

1) I know what type of problem that the network have on the real situation.

2) I learned how to take the measurement of the physical network.

3) I know what is the topology of the school use.

4) I learned how to troubleshoot the problems step by step.

5) I learned what are the end user problems on using the network.

3. What I need to do for improvements? (List out 5 things)

1) Better planning before the visit.

2) Bring more equipment for the visit.

3) Asking more question to the end users. (teachers and students)

4) Have more knowledge on how to solve vital problems.

1. What is the reason you attend this course? 

The first reason I attend this course is because it is related with my main course which is Computer Science majoring in Computer Network and Security. So, I can apply the things that I will learn in this course in my studies. Not only that, I like to contribute myself to the community because it makes me happy to help people in need. With those reasons, this course is perfect for me to choose for my Co-curricular subject.

2. What is your expectation when attending this course ICT for Community Service?

When I see the name ICT for Community Service, I expect that I am going to learn how to interact to the community, what is the things related to ICT that we going learn such as how to use the computer and other devices and many more. So, in general, I expect the course to teach us what we are going to do to help the people.

3. Do you have previous knowledge of Cabling Infrastructure?

Yes, but really basic knowledge about the Cabling Infrastructure. I do know about the things like the ethernet cable, what is the cable made of, what type of cable do we have and other basic things but I know nothing about how to handle the cable, what equipment we have to use to handle it and what is specified use of the equipments and cables.

        Throughout this year, I have been finished my first sem of the first year in the course of Computer Science (Networking and Security). I think that i choose the right course because the things that I have learned really attract me to learn more. Since this is the first time I am studying at a university. So, there are many thing that are new to me such as the way I am learning, the class schedule, the way I am socializing, self time management and many more.

       For your Information, before UTM, I am studying at Kolej Matrikulasi Pahang, I learned a lot there. Actually Matriculation help me a lot in adapting University life. It is because actually Matriculation system use almost half university system in learning. So, I can see what to do when I am at a university. For me Matriculation is a good institution to study after secondary school since it offer a fast track to degree which you just study for 1 year before degree even it actually a bit rough because you have to learn faster and catch up faster on everything. Imagine that you have to learn 14 chapters on sem 1 in just 4 month which is on physics subject alone and you have other 3 core subject just like it and other more subject like English, Malaysian dynamic and etc.. But dont worry, it worth every effort you sacrifice. And you have 4 month to rest after that :D.

         I hope that I will do better for the upcoming year 2018. I hope that I can improve my time management, my discipline , my social skill and everything that I lack of. It can't be achieved without the help of other people especially my family, my lectures and also all my friends. Remember that failure is not the end and failure is better than not trying.
