Graduate Attributes

  • Communication skills

As a committee member, there were a lot of meetings and discussions going on. Thus, this program and event shows the importance of having good communication skills as we need to meet clients, audiences, participants and higher upper committees to make this program run smoothly and with no errors. In the end, I have honed my social and communication skills to the max and also improved it along the way.

  • Leadership and Team working Skills

As the event is conducted in a team, I was in charge to lead all the activities and events that ran throughout the whole program. Thus, I had to work with many teams from different units of activities to get the event running smoothly. It is a big step up from the last SEGA event which I was only a committee member for the activity unit and not the head of activity unit. There are multiple activities that need to be completed to reach a certain goal with each activity focusing getting the right equipment, setup, planning, and group dividing. This in return has sharpen up my skills as a leader and developed my soft skills as well.

Self-Reflection

Throughout this whole event, I have learned that it is always important to communicate with the whole team to bring out or deliver the best possible version of the outcome. This is so that the information is shared correctly and no errors will return. I showed my full leadership in this event by catering different tasks to the right people. It was not easy to make the right decisions throughout the event as there were many sacrifices and risks that were took in order to make the program successful. Some of those challenges includes not getting the participants in time, shortage of volunteers, peer pressure from the higher ups and sudden changes across the whole activity board. Those shortcomings really thought me the importance of being resilient and pushed me even further to become a better person and leader for future events and activities that might come across my way later. I can confidently say that this event was the highlight of my 2nd year.
