Industrial Training Experience

Welcome to my industrial training reflection page. My internship commenced on 22nd September till 6th of February at Batik Air Malaysia. Batik Air is an airline company with thousands of passengers taking its service, and so it is well known; I had a flight to and from my native country with Batik Air before I joined the company, so I was familiar with it. When I  got confirmation of acceptance as an intern for the company, I was thrilled and excited, as I knew I might have the opportunity to look closely at how such a massive company works and how the business processes go internally. I was also excited to be at the airport, check around different sites, and have a chance to meet beautiful cabin crew hahaha.

So I was assigned to the IT PMO department and was tasked to create a system to be used by the Human Resource & Procurement departments. Time passed quickly as I was busy travelling back and forth to the office, working closely with people involved, and reporting to seniors. The internship lasted 20 weeks, and looking back, there are many lessons to take and carry forward. Firstly, there was the real-world industrial exposure and how numerous departments work together as a unit, and processes go on behind the airline's business. Second was to get familiar with industry-standard technologies that are currently being used in my field of expertise, which is developing software. Last but not least, to work professionally to meet deadlines for the work, preparing various reports, having meetings and presentations with different people involved, including the CEO, and integrating various requirements from various people, reaching a common ground, to name a few.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn and get a chance to watch closely how a real company works, as well as taking other soft skills and contemporary tech knowledge from the experts. Hope to carry the lessons forward as I progress my career and for a better future!
