Participating in the Students Gathering and Bonding Program was an incredibly positive experience for me. It provided me with opportunities to develop my communication skills, learn more about global citizenship and leadership, and enhance my leadership abilities.
The activities that were part of the program had a significant impact on my communication skills, i.e. I was able to articulate my thoughts and emotions clearly and found out that I am an active listener, while interacting with different representatives of each International Student Societies. Furthermore, as I was in charge of delegating the participants to their seats along with other members of ISS-BD committee, I ble to develop my leadership abilities and learn how to effectively work as part of a team. Finally, I discovered I was able to adapt to different situations and personalities and build connections quickly with my peers, juniors and seniors alike from my community, as well as those from different ones, i.e. Indonesian ISS members, etc.
One of the challenges I faced during the program was balancing my academic workload with the time commitments required by the program. However, I was able to overcome this challenge by managing my time effectively and prioritizing my commitments.
To conclude, participating in the Students Gathering and Bonding Program was an incredibly valuable experience that provided opportunities for personal growth and development and I made a few good memories from my first Ramadan after the pandemic, here in UTM, that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
As a student, one of the most important aspects of our educational journey is building meaningful relationships with our peers. Engaging in the Students Gathering and Bonding Program and Iftar provided me an excellent opportunity to achieve this goal. Held during one of the online semesters, this program helped me to build social connections, which is critical to a student's personal and academic growth. Meeting new people helped me improve my communication skills, increase self-confidence, and expand my worldview. By attending this gatherings, I was able to meet students from different backgrounds and academic fields, which helped to provide valuable insights and perspectives, alongside being able to network with helpful seniors and academics.
Since I was a participant as well as being in charge of delegating the representatives from other International Student Societies, I was able to effectively communicate and ensure the participants got along well with each other. Furthermore, there were students who were visiting UTM and attending a ISS-BD event for the first time in their undergraduate life, due to them initiating their first semester online via remote learning. The event consisted of a meet and greet between the students, followed by a few performances by Bangladeshi Students from the cultural department of ISS BD. Furthermore, iftar and refreshments were provided throughout the program. Several officers from the office of UTM International graced the evening with their presence. Finally, the event ended with a prize giving ceremony to the winners of another previous ISS BD event called Independence Day Indoor Games Tournament.
