ExCEL 1 : CHRISTMAS GRAND DINNER 2023

Mini Report:

The Christmas Grand Dinner 2023, organized by Ikatan Kristian UTM JB, was a joyful event that brought together UTM's Christian community to celebrate the wonderful occasion of Christmas. The program included a variety of activities such as dinner, carol singing, and community-building efforts to promote Christmas pleasure. Aside from the fun, the event aimed to create community and inclusion by encouraging cultural interchange among UTM's diverse students. In preparing a Christmas event, the goal was to improve participants' awareness of customs and promote a broader perspective. As a committee member, I witnessed the event's alignment with the 'Communication Skills' and 'Leadership and Teamworking Skills' Graduate Attributes.

By organizing an event that celebrated a culturally significant occasion like Christmas, the program aimed to enhance participants' understanding of different traditions and promote a global perspective within the university community. The Christmas Grand Dinner successfully brought together students from various cultural backgrounds, creating a festive atmosphere of unity and camaraderie. The outreach initiatives also resulted in meaningful community engagement, fostering a sense of social responsibility among participants.

Self Reflection: 

As a committee member of the Christmas Grand Dinner committee, I felt a range of emotions, from joy to responsibility. Coordinating this varied event demonstrated the importance of excellent communication and leadership abilities. This event significantly improved my leadership and teamwork skills I worked with other committee members to demonstrate organizational and interpersonal qualities. Juggling many activities at once increased my organizing skills, promoting personal and professional development. Challenges such coordinating several tasks and managing limited time were handled using effective communication, delegation, and priority.

This role had a considerable impact on my communication skills, effective coordination required clear communication. As I am in multimedia unit, I need to communicate with all of the participants' to take their picture to capture the joyful moment. Leadership and teamwork thrived in the collaborative environment, emphasizing the significance of these characteristics. My organizational skills, acquired by handling many duties, demonstrate the practical application of leadership and teamworking skills. Reflecting on the event, there is an acknowledgement of the need for ongoing improvement in time management and communication. Future events might benefit from better planning and communication channels to increase the organizing committees overall efficiency. This event demonstrated the transforming potential of good communication, leadership, and collaboration in promoting personal and professional development.
