JOURNEY OF GETTING AWS BADGE
The journey of getting AWS badge was easy and challenging.
You would be confused what am i talking about. Let me explain to you clearly.
AWS is one of the cloud computing platforms that offers organizational tools such as computing power, database storage and content delivery services. It involves the offering of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and also Software as a Service (SaaS).
As a computer science student, we were asked to do AWS modules which includes all the contents regarding AWS by giving a badge once we complete all the modules.
On 17th December 2021, Dr Azurah created the AWS account for us. Dr Azurah also guided us on how to access. As a student, i was curious to know how does this AWS badge works because i have never heard about it before entering Technology & Information System subject. There was also an industrial talk given by Mr Qusay regarding AWS, but i was confused. There were 10 modules to be done before receiving the AWS badge. This 10 modules has different contents which clearly explained about each and every services of AWS. The moment i started watching the first video in module 1, i got a clear picture what does AWS mean. We were given time about a month to complete all the 10 modules.
I started watching the videos and to do the knowledge check of module 1 and 2 on 18th December 2021. I felt the modules was easy and i got to pass the knowledge check in one try. Module 6,7, and 8 was the toughest modules i would say because it contains a lot of sub-videos which took much time for me to complete. There were some fancy terms used in the videos, which was hard to understand. With the help of google i was able to get the meaning for the words.
Throughout completing this module, i find that all the modules are well detailly explained and understandable by us. Apart from that, the content of the module were so useful for us to use it in our assignment purposes. With the knowledge that i grab from this 10 modules, helps me to do a proper and well explained project report. The best part of this AWS module is we can refer the notes even we still have confusion. I had successfully completed all the 10 modules on 23rd of December 2021. The next day, i received my AWS badge. Finally, i have the knowledge of AWS which will be helpful for me in future.
A Summary of what you have gained from completing the course(get a badge)
I managed to claim a AWS Badge and its certificate after completing the 10 modules. The modules was provided by AWS which is also known as AMAZON WEB SERVICES TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION. To complete each module, i had to watch few videos related to the topics which was clearly explain and there will knowledge check which has 10 questions to answer at the end of the module. This knowledge check is to test our understanding of each topics and the score for each quiz has to be 80% and above. If the score is lesser than 80% we are given chance to retake the quiz in order to obtain 80%.
Your opinion whether getting the badge is easy or difficult ? Which modules is the easiest/most difficult.
In my opinion, obtaining the badge was really easy if you are really interested in learning Cloud Computing topics. The interest on u has to be there if you really want to finish it, but if you couldn’t digest the topics and if u feel hard then it will be boring for u to do and grab the badge. Since i had the curiosity to learn about AWS Cloud Computing, i was able to complete the 10 modules and claim the badge within a week. There were some fancy words that i couldn’t understand of, but with the help google i was able to get the meaning and understand the word. Apart from that module 6,7 and 8 was the hardest modules among all the 10 modules for me because the content of the modules was new to me and also the duration of the videos was long. I had to watch the videos few times to get a clear understanding about the contents. Dr Azurah always motivate us in order to complete the modules as scheduled which is before the project work starts. Thank god, i was able to clear out all the modules and claim AWS Badge and a certificate.
Your opinion on whether every company should shift to Cloud Computing?
In my opinion, Cloud Computing will bring a lot benefits to the company based on their needs and readliness. As many of us know, Cloud Computing is becoming demanding among big companies. It is not only used by big companies but also small companies welcome to use Cloud Computing depends on the amount of fund they have. As the company shifts to Cloud Computing, the company can be the outstanding company with all types of advantages.
Any advice to your friends who have not gotten the AWS badge yet?
Dear buddies, don’t worry if you haven’t finish the modules, its fine if you finish it late. All of us have our own works to be done, try to spend some time to complete this module to get some benefit for yourself. Just make sure u grab all the knowledge. This badge really gives a value to your life and career. Never ever give up if u don’t have time to finish it off. Your hard work is going to reward you an AWS Badge. WISH YOU ALL THE BEST! NEVER EVER GIVE UP!
Your opinion about getting the AWS badge that is included in SECP1513 subject.
I think this is a golden opportunity for the TIS students including me, because it brings a great exposure to all of us. The most demanding ones in 4th IR will be Cloud Computing. I think if i didn’t get this opportunity, then i must be facing many problems in future. I am so happy that this short course is being a part of TIS teaching plan. Besides that, this badge also contributes 10% of marks to our final grading. I am so blessed TIS subject gave me a wider exposure to AWS Cloud Computing.
Your motivation to complete this project
My motivation to complete this module was my curiosity to know what is AWS Cloud Computing all about. At first, i had no clue what is AWS. I would say this short course distributes huge percentage of knowledge to all the students. The journey of completing this 10 modules isn’t easy because it requires more time and stable internet. The content in modules was so interesting which increase the level of my curiosity to the peak. This curiosity makes me to complete all the module within a week. Besides that, Dr Azurah also kept us reminding that the knowledge from this course will help us in future assignments and projects. By completing this whole module, i had a clear idea about AWS and was able to explain to my teammates.
What is a badge worth?
The process of getting the badge is not only by completing the modules, it is also the knowledge that we grasp from all the 10 modules. This AWS Digital Badges enables to upgrade my career resume. This will acknowledge my employer that i have the background of AWS Cloud Computing which is an additional point for me to get a job. Apart from that, the knowledge that i have will also benefits the company. All of us have to understand that, this AWS Badge is the gold coin for us and we shouldn't let it go.
Feedback on whether getting the badge to improve you knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing
As i told earlier, i had zero knowledge about AWS Cloud Computing. This AWS short course introduced to me everything from head to toe about Cloud Computing. This course has given me a lot of knowledge that i have never know. With the knowledge that i have, i am able to write a report indetail about AWS . This also enables me to increase my knowledge about Cloud Computing by taking courses. In future, with all the knowledges that i have gain, i will implement in career which brings benefit to people around the world.
Your opinion on whether every computer science /UTM student should learn Cloud Computing?
I think it is important for a computer science students to know. It is really encourageable for students to get the badge as soon as possible because they don’t have to spend money to do the modules. This a golden opportunity for everyone to grab the AWS Badge which brings a huge value to your resume. But for non computer science UTM students, i think its optional for them. If they have the interest then they can start doing the modules and claim the badge. Since it’s a virtual learning process, students don’t face any issues in doing the modules.
What is your direction after completing the badge?
My direction after completing this badge is i will try to attend online seminars related to Cloud Computing. I believe that there are still a lot of knowledge that i might missed to grab or i have never know. So maybe after this, i will continue my studies on this to get a better understanding. I think it would be fun if i am able to have hands on activities which will be more interesting. Based on the knowledge i get from AWS Cloud Computing, i hope i can share with my friends out there so that they won't be left out of this latest technology.
