Program Description: Konvensyen Muzik Orkestra Tradisional Cina 2020 is the 3rd music convention organised by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Chinese Orchestra (UTMCO). Given the theme "Durare Eternamente", an italian word which mean forever and eternal. In hoping the Chinese traditional music and instrument will not be forgotten and last forever, the team are performing their music in a variety of styles to continue the musical spirit of the group.

The purpose of holding this music convention is to introduce traditional Chinese arts among the multi-racial community in UTM in line with Malaysian government policies and aims to promote traditional Chinese culture, music and art and improve the quality of and experience of participants. As a Chinese born in Z generation, traditional Chinese culture, music and art is kind of vague for me. Thus, I joined this program to have more understanding and on our Chinese culture, music and art. Apart from music and song performance, there is also dance performance, talk show, singing performance and some comedy show. The program activities mostly focus on graduate attributes of global citizens, leadership and teamworking skills. Malaysia is a country full of diversity, and music plays an important role in connecting people regardless of religion, ethnic or races. This program is open to all Malaysian to advocate the spirit of "Satu Malaysia" and I am happy to see that not only performers but participants that comes from different races.

I was very impressed by the performance of the team. They are able to perform different kind of genre of music and also different type of music, with the same music instruments. They highlighted how important it is to work in a team. As the saying goes: "If you want to go faster, go alone; If you want to go further, go with your friends.", in team effort they have played a lot of music and song even sound track that created using electronic device. As we all know, Malaysia is an incredibly diverse country, containing  different ethnicities, languages and religions. I am happy to see that there is other races that comes to watch this music convention as well. They are able to perform Malay, Indian and western music and song using the Chinese traditional music instruments. One of my favorite performances is the Avengers Assemble soundtrack performance, the prelude was just exactly the same as played in the cinema when I am watching the Avengers, it is really nostalgic. From this convention, I am truly understand the saying: "Music is a universal language of mankind.". The quote is attributed to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882), which says that regardless of culture or previous exposure, are able to discern the basic emotions of happiness, sadness and fear in music.
