Report Activity No.2

Program Description: Given the theme "Aspiring Youth: Towards the Future", this program provide a platform for youth or graduates to brush up skills and be prepare for internship or employment.

We lived in an era where technology is advancing at unprecedented rate. In just ten years, we can see the evolution of phones from flip phone to touch screen phone, also in the time of pandemic, the online learning and work from home things have become a trending. Thus, graphic design and editing skill seems to be a potential skills set to be acquired at the time. Next, I am going to have my internship next year and eventually I will graduate later. Therefore, I joined this program to learn and gain some experience to get myself prepare for employment and also to catch up with the generation.

By joining this program, my thinking skills and communication skills have been enhanced as there is a lot of activities that required higher order thinking skill. For example, the game of engineering, identity test, create professional cv and interview session. As this program was more focus on preparing graduates for employment thus the activities held were more focus the two graduate attributes mentioned just now which were thinking skills and communication skills. However, as I was the head of multimedia department thus my leadership and teamworking skills were developing as well.

This program was held for three days. On the first day there was an opening ceremony and ice breaking session for participants to have an overview of this program and have some understanding towards the facilitators, committees and speakers. Then, there was a talk entitled "In a time of pandemic" where we have our speaker who is Dr. Lim Chee Han who is a senior researcher and having a PHD in infection biology from Hannover Medical School, Germany. Afterwards, there was a video competition task given where participants have to do a short video regarding to the pandemic and submit to committee in charge. On the next day, we have alumni sharing and a sharing session on how to make professional resume. The second day was ended with the game of engineering. On the last day, there was a short test named identity test to let us have more understanding on our strength and weakness. Afterward, the program were ended with closing ceremony where the director and advisor or this program were giving speech and token of appreciation and prizes were awarded to judges and participants.

From this program, I learned how to create a professional resume also some tips for interview session which I think will be very useful later on when I am preparing for internship or employment. Most of the activities of the program have enhanced my thinking skills and communication skills. From the talk entitled "In a time of pandemic", I get to know the situation of other countries and how they overcome the challenges. With the knowledge and information provided by Dr. Lim Chee Han, I know what i should do to protect myself and the loved one. During the preparation for this program, as I was the head of multimedia department, I have also enhanced my graphic design, leadership and teamworking skills as well. Although this is my very first virtual event, and my first time to take such high position, but I am a person who adapts easily, so maybe this might be a little self strength/ advantage for me.

Throughout this program, there were some challenges I faced. First, technical issue. Due to the internet connection, laptop specifications and outdated Cisco Webex version, during the event I have experienced some lagging. Fortunately, these problems are solved during the second day of event. Next, the virtual meeting where I can't meeting with my partners face to face to have some discussion on the graphic design things. It is hard to communicate snd learn such way but thanks to my partners' passion and patience we eventually sort this out. Thanks to this program which I have a chance to brush up some skills set.
