Self-Reflection

As a member of the Promotion Department for the 3rd International University of Technology Mandarin Debating Championships, I contributed to the success of the tournament. This reflective essay describes the impact of the activity on the development of student alumni traits, highlights my strengths and advantages in the role, and addresses the challenges I face, particularly in dealing with media partners.

The 3rd International University of Technology Mandarin Debating Championships provided a rich platform for students to develop the characteristics of graduates. Throughout the preparation phase, I have witnessed the impact that activities have on the participants' development. One of her standout areas of growth was improving her communication skills. By carefully crafting promotional materials, social media posts, and press releases, students improved their ability to effectively communicate the essence of their mastery to their target audience. Clear and persuasive communication became her strength and a valuable skill for her future endeavors.

In addition, the event also promoted leadership and team skills among participants. As part of the advertising department, I've seen students grow as they learn to collaborate, delegate tasks, and coordinate their efforts. By working closely with the team, I have witnessed the power of effective teamwork and the results that come from it. The championship served as a platform for students to demonstrate their leadership skills and develop a sense of collective responsibility.

The speed of preparation for the event presented some challenges that required adaptability and quick thinking. Students demonstrated their resilience while encountering unexpected obstacles and finding creative solutions. This adaptability not only strengthened their problem-solving skills but also gave them the confidence to face future challenges head-on.

As for my own contribution, I have found several strengths and advantages that facilitate my role as a Public Relations Commissioner. My strong written and verbal communication skills enabled me to effectively communicate the goals and details of the championship to our target audience through engaging promotional content. I used my creativity to come up with innovative promotional ideas to engage and captivate my audience. Her meticulous attention to detail ensured accuracy and professionalism in every aspect of her work, leaving a positive impression on her media partners and social media subscribers.

However, the preparation phase was not without its challenges. A particular hurdle that tested my skills was dealing with media partners, a responsibility I had never faced before. We needed to break new ground and forge a fruitful partnership. At first, I felt insecure due to my lack of experience in this field. Nevertheless, I approached the task with an open mind and a willingness to learn. I sought advice from experienced colleagues, researched effective communication strategies, and approached potential media partners with clear and concise pitches. Through perseverance and a positive mindset, I was able to overcome this challenge and build a successful partnership. In summary, this championship was a transformative experience for the participants and for me. The activities that took place during the event promoted the alumni characteristics of the students, especially communication skills, leadership skills, adaptability, and entrepreneurial spirit. As a member of the publicity department, I was able to use my strengths in communication, creativity, and attention to detail to make a meaningful contribution to the success of the event. The challenges I faced, especially dealing with media partners, taught me valuable lessons of perseverance and resourcefulness. Overall, the journey was one of growing, learning, and fulfilling our shared vision of a fulfilling debate championship.
