EXCEL Report_24 Festive Drum Performance in Mid-Autumn Festival Night 2019

Summary

I had participated in MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL NIGHT. This is an annual event which is organized by Pesta Tanglung Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. There were several performances during this festival and 24 Festive Drums is one of the performance within it. I had took part in 24 festive drums and this is my first time to perform 24 festive drums in such a festival. I was satisfied in this performance as we had completed our performance successfully. This proved that our hard works had been paid off. Besides, I was grateful for having this chance too as I had met with a lot of new friends from different faculty. By joining UTM 24 Festive Drums Club, I not only learnt about how to play 24 Festive Drums, but also exposed myself to different fields of study. This is because we will share the knowledge of our course with each other during the free time. Besides, we also has a coach for teaching and guiding us in playing 24 Festive Drums. Hence, it was a nice experience for me to join as the performer of the 24 Festive Drums as well as become one of the members of the UTM 24 Festive Drums Club.

MINI REPORT

At 1 December 2018, I had participated in MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL NIGHT. This is an annual event which is organized by Pesta Tanglung Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. There were several performances during this festival. 24 festive drums is one of the performance within it. I had took part in 24 festive drums and this is my first time to perform 24 festive drums in such a festival.

SELF-REFLECTION

After studying in UTM, I am quite excited when I had been informed that there was a 24 festive drums club in UTM. After becoming the member of this club, I had attended the 24 festive drums practices which would be held every Sunday and Wednesday. Actually, I was a beginner in playing drum. However, I was very grateful to have a coach who was willing to teach us about the techniques of playing 24 festive drums by expecting no return. Based on my view, he was a good coach as he was very patience in teaching us even though we had no experience about playing 24 festive drums. After practicing about 2 months, we manage to perform the 24 festive drums perfectly during PTUTM. Thanks a lot for the teamwork of my teammates as well as the guidance of our coach.

Mini report :

From 14th to 19th October 2019, I had taken part in a donation drive which was part of the program of Volunteer IEM 2.0. This program was conducted by The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) UTM, Student Section and lasted for about one week. The donation drive was carried out at Arcked Cengal, Arked Meranti and PSZ, UTM. The number of volunteers was about 30 people who were the committee of IEM. In order to make sure the program can be carried out successfully, we had decided our own available slot to carry out the donation drive. All the fund that had been collected during the donation drive was donated to Berkat Children’s Home at Johor Bahru.

SELF-REFLECTION

I was thankful to have such a golden opportunity to take part in this donation drive to help the people who are in need. Firstly, we had gathered at Arked Meranti for the briefing section and the task distribution. After that, we went to each location for the donation drive and I stayed at Arked Meranti as this is the place that I had been located for collecting the fund. Honestly, I felt quite nervous as this is the first time to me in joining a donation drive in UTM. However, this feeling disappeared when I started asking the people for the donation. Besides, I found that people are very generous. After listening to our description about the donation drive, they were willing to donate to us as much as possible. We also gave the receipts to them as their return for their kindness. In addition, I also found that most of the UTM students started having their dinner starting at about 6.30 p.m. as we could see there was a crowd at this epic hour. Hence, we could collect more fund too at this epic hour. At around 7.45pm, we stopped collecting the fund to have our dinner as well as calculating the total funds that we had collected.

Furthermore, I had joined another section of donation drive at Arked Cengal too. The overall process was almost same as the previous day that I had participated in Arcked Meranti. The total funds that collected from each section is about RM400. We were quite satisfied about this results. In conclusion, I enjoyed the whole process of donation drive. I also hoped that there will be more donation drive that will be held as it is a way to help the people who are I need.

MINI REPORT

At 27 April 2019, I had participated in IEM Annual Grand Meeting (AGM). This is the 20th annual grand meeting that was held by IEM student section. Since this is a formal meeting, all of us were wearing a formal attire to attend the meeting. The meeting was started with the speech given by the advisor of IEM, Prof. Ir. Dr. Sharul Kamal bin Abdul Rahim. Then, it was followed up by the speech given by the chairman and the highest committees of IEM student section. After that, the new batch of the highest committees of IEM student section was being announced. Lastly, the meeting ended with the photography section for the committee of IEM student section 18/19 with the advisor of IEM.

SELF-REFLECTION

I was grateful as a member of IEM student section for batch 2018 / 2019. Even though I was just a normal committee, but I really enjoyed the programs which had been organized. I had also learned a lot of skill by becoming the committee of IEM too. By joining IEM, it also provided chances for me to recognize more friends from different faculties. We can not only exchange knowledge to each other, but also learn how to organize an event successfully. In conclusion, I will be more active to join more activities and society such as IEM to engage my experiences in the university.
