Self-Reflection
It is a valuable experience to me as it lets me realise that my programming skill still has a long way to go. I was doing pretty bad during the competition as I totally have no idea what to do the moment I first looked at the questions. It’s something so unfamiliar to me as it is not only challenging the participant on the coding skill, but also thinking and mathematical skill to solve those questions. I have to quickly cool myself down and read the question slowly and try to understand what it wants, by dividing the big picture into smaller puzzle pieces. Besides, coding as a group is also something new to me, as me and my partner have never tried that before. But it just happens naturally when we communicate and distribute which part of the coding that one of us will be doing.
I wanted to thank my partner for staying cool while I had completely lost mine when we first got the question. We discuss the question together as a team, and I do say it works out pretty well. Even though we didn’t solve many questions, this experience worked so well as a reality check for me to always stay humble and hungry for knowledge. I have been pretty confident in my programming skill but this competition tells me I have a lot more to learn, and I am also motivated to do so.
