This page comprises the summary of my Final Year Project, which is a smart parking system with the use of RFID technology.

Project Summary

lThe number of registered vehicle on the road is increasing every year due to the dependency of citizens to private transport. It’s showed that the number increased significantly throughout the years 2010 to 2015, a 30% increment in 5 years duration. It is expected that the vehicle owners could somehow face some difficulties when they deal with the municipal parking fee payment. In fact, the authorities are actually making changes on the parking fee payment method, from the old-styled coin payment machine located at the side of every single parking lot to pay-and-display method, then to the parking coupon method and lastly, the SMS Parkir system in Johor Bahru area with the hope of easing the public as well as the authorities from the difficulties. However, these methods/systems are still carrying certain difficulties including hardly found parking coupon dealer, blurred/ faded car parking lot number. In this project, we will be focusing on the development of RFID based smart parking system aiming to ease the public and also the authorities in the issue of municipal parking fee payment as well as a seamless parking experience. The system proposed is inclusive of a Raspberry Pi 3 as the computing unit, the RFID tag and reader pair to identify the user as well as the Google Firebase that serve as real time online database.
